Nothing noticeable Latios been garbage, I've been saying this.1. What were the most notable increases and decreases, and why do you think these mons are used more/less now?
None of them they were actually pretty obvious.2. What increases or decreases surprised you the most?
Standard so nothing special3. Among the mons with increased usage, what sets have you been using and enjoying?
Buzzwole is actually okay despite it being dropped it only fits on fat teams though, imo.4. Among the mons with decreased usage, what are your favorite sets for those mons?
Dragapult since it doesn't require a brain to use.5. What are your favorite mons to use in the current metagame?
Chomp6. What mons do you predict will continue to see increased usage?
Regieleki is the equivalent to Gen6OU Donphan, fighting to stay OU lol.7. What mons are you expecting to see a declining usage from?
8. What are some of your favorite cores to use?
Snooze.9. How do you feel about the metagame?
Yes all good, think Kyurem is going to get worse though.10. Have you used any of the newly risen mons mentioned above? If so, how did they perform for you?
Empo winning OST cause he's the goat and it's dope to see his progression from spamming Bird Spam on ladder in XY years back to being an absolute beast. You did good though TPP. Didn't enjoy SS SPL as a spectator besides watching games with Ox talking about them and the teams people were using, I only tuned into a couple games live like Devin vs Ruft to show support, the highlights were all the old gen stuff SS OU showcase was pretty whack, very sweaty and boring, WCOP might be more interesting.11. Are there any replays from SPL or OST that you enjoyed and want to share? Any highlights worth discussing?
Bad troll, pretty obvious you didn't get Finch to proof-read it cause you mixed up Zacian and Zamanta all the time smh.12. I hope you enjoyed using Zamazenta today. If you'd like to share how it performed for you, then you are encouraged to do so here.
continuing its trend of being godlike is notable. This thing sets the new standard for speed control and is nigh-impossible to safely play around.1. What were the most notable increases and decreases, and why do you think these mons are used more/less now?
maintaining its OU usage surprised me. What gives?2. What increases or decreases surprised you the most?
Been using CB here and there and it is a beast. continues to be a great mon as well, but we all knew this thing was destined for true greatness for some time now. And of course, has always been a mon with a lot of depth but it often gets away with murder by donning Choice Specs and recklessly clicking Ice Beam and scoring free KOs.3. Among the mons with increased usage, what sets have you been using and enjoying?
I still really like Specs but it's in a weird position where it always wants to click all four of its moves but has to lock itself into just one.4. Among the mons with decreased usage, what are your favorite sets for those mons?
is as great to use as ever. This thing is the most mandatory thing I've ever seen on HO and can be extremely dishonest at times, but it's also very rewarding to use.5. What are your favorite mons to use in the current metagame?
will all probably get used more and more. They are all phenomenal in this tier and IMO their usage doesn't represent how incredible they truly are quite yet (well, maybe Rilla but you'd think the king of HO would be like top 4 in usage).6. What mons do you predict will continue to see increased usage?
is dogshit and I feel like more people are starting to figure this out, but holy moly is it bad.7. What mons are you expecting to see a declining usage from?
Take Rillaboom, slap on a Magnezone, partner that core up with other offense mons, and slap SR Chomp or SR Lando on the squad and call it a day. I also like + (Nasty Plot, specifically) but y'all ain't ready for that conversation.8. What are some of your favorite cores to use?
It's alright. It feels super stale at the moment but I'd rather us have a stable metagame than whatever the fuck happens to UU every time tier shifts happen.9. How do you feel about the metagame?
and are all great and have been doing quite well in my experience. But was always busted IMO so lmao10. Have you used any of the newly risen mons mentioned above? If so, how did they perform for you?
There was one replay where a Rilla's Grassy Terrain gave some dude's Volcarona enough recovery so it could live a banded Urshifu-R's Aqua Jet from full and that truly sold me on how good Rilla was even when Rilla itself wasn't beating everything's skulls in. I can't remember the replay and feel too lazy to look right now but it was absolutely astounding to watch!11. Are there any replays from SPL or OST that you enjoyed and want to share? Any highlights worth discussing?
Didn't use it. Kinda want to when and if there's a real suspect test for it though.12. I hope you enjoyed using Zamazenta today. If you'd like to share how it performed for you, then you are encouraged to do so here.
are for me the most notable increases, as I think all of them perform well. Kyurem with its Choice Specs set is a menace to switch into, when your special wall is gone or severely weakened, which makes Kyurem one of the most terryfing Pokemon to face in OU with a great typing and coverage and Ice itself is great, as it has the ability to hit most things at least neutral.1. What were the most notable increases and decreases, and why do you think these mons are used more/less now?
I like both for different reasons: Kyurem with its Choice Specs set can just tear teams apart and Zeraora is a great Pivot with superb Speed control in the tier with being 1 Point faster than Dragapult it clearly sets itself apart from many other speedy Pokemon.3. Among the mons with increased usage, what sets have you been using and enjoying?
My Top 10 List:5. What are your favorite mons to use in the current metagame?
I think sees a rise in usage as it is one of those Pokemon, which can check Tapu Lele, Kyurem, Rillaboom, and Kartana with its amazing typing and great movepool. I hope it rises into OU, as it would be deserved for the success it offers not only defensively but also offensively with a Swords Dance set + Steel-type Priority in Bullet Punch.6. What mons do you predict will continue to see increased usage?
I think the metagame is in a pretty stabile place right now, sure some Pokemon are threatening but I think they're checkable with the many great tools we have, although in the teambuilding process I would keep all the threats in mind as some kind of a 'checklist' to not miss out any one of them. But in overall the metagame is in a pretty stabile stage!9. How do you feel about the metagame?
Yes, and they performed imho pretty well. Cannot complain. I like all these Pokemon due to the different things they bring to the table, which also makes teambuilding pretty fun to think about.10. Have you used any of the newly risen mons mentioned above? If so, how did they perform for you?
I think the Bulk of Zamazenta-C is pretty good, especially when you pair it with a dual screen setter, it can turn into a tough case to dent through it with that natural bulk it has. I think the Howl + 3 Attacks set combined with Tapu Kokos Electric Surge is pretty good, to make it able to dent through Toxapex and Slowbro with more ease. However, it comes at the cost of its HP, as Wild Charge is a recoil move and can leave it vulnerable to other threats in the process, cause of it being worn down fast. But in overall offensively this Pokemon should not be underestimated.12. I hope you enjoyed using Zamazenta today. If you'd like to share how it performed for you, then you are encouraged to do so here.
Do you happen to have replays that showcase this? Many people were also worried about its matchup against offense, and I'm happy to say that the hype in this regard is, thankfully, fake. Screens, Balanced Offenses, and VoltTurns beat down Zamazenta due to its proneness to chip damage, awkward type matchups against common offense cores, and lack of immediate strength, making it surprisingly easy to break past.
The thing is that wish passers are not in a good spot in OU at the moment. While strategies were tried yesterday, it was a one day suspect. I tried them myself, and I often came with little to no results. I agree with Ausma that chip damage is a huge problem for Zama, and wish doesn't completely solve the problem either. Finding an opportunity to switch Zama in to get the wish pass is often more dangerous than you might think.Do you happen to have replays that showcase this?
In my opinions: This is the #1 reason why it would be cancerous. It being pretty easy to wall and chip down on its own is far from the main issue. It's the way it easily shuts down so many mons that would normally be balance breakers (especially physical ones). It immediately steals away momentum and the few chances these glass cannons get.
I saw a bunch of wish pass, or Zama running rest with aroma support yesterday. I even saw healing wish blissey restore it.
Most offensively inclined teams that didn't have like Tran or similar as a breaker, seemed to struggle against Zama Cores from what I saw.
I should've saved these replays myself to share.
P.S. one brainless answer to zama is helmet pyuku with block lol. But of course it's not fair to expect everyone to have to run stall mons.
I’d just like to point out this isn’t strictly correct. I’ve run the calcs (and had it occur in yesterday’s ladder), but Zama can beat defensive Lando-T 1v1 if it is brought in via a slow pivot. It can set up with Howl and 2HKO Lando-T with Behemoth Bash while tanking 2 uninvested EQs 70% of the time, assuming no prior chip on either mon. The issue with Zama is it’s so easy to bring it in on Knock Off, particularly from Banded Rillaboom/Kartana, and the Howl is free on the switch. Running Howl + STABs and Wild Charge, Zapdos is pretty much the only thing you can’t 2HKO after a Howl. It isn’t quite as broken as I expected, but it sets up way too easily and there are too few reliable switch-ins at +1. It’s too strong for OU imo.ausma said:It lacking the immediate power to threaten out things like Landorus-T and Rillaboom without prior boosting or proper coverage when it enters battle (unless they're Choice-locked) really sucks for it too.
Hippowdon isn’t a check at +1.Discharged Xurkitree said:I would also like to mention that Hippowdon is a great check, it takes any hit and can whirlwind Zama away if it tries setting up. And chip from rocky helmet is pretty good.
Good rebuttal, yeah its true that ppl were usin bad stuff like Wish Audino for more longevity. Finding an opportunity to switch Zama in to get the wish pass is often more dangerous than you might think.
Yeah there are alot of answers on the defense side.I would also like to mention that Hippowdon is a great check, it takes any hit and can whirlwind Zama away if it tries setting up. And chip from rocky helmet is pretty good.
I think you're using Zama wrong if you're trying to attack defensive mons with it when it's not the late game;Chip damage is pretty much a death sentence for Zamazenta-C because it bypasses Zamazenta-C's arguably biggest strength, which is its bulk; with stuff like Rocky Helmet...
Sounds like a set that's extremely exploitable by Corviknight, Pressure Zapdos, and Haze Toxapex. Before the ban i saw a lot of people talking about how Zama's Sub-Howl-Rest-Bash set would be OP. Has anyone tried that set?
Well, It's a good question. However i don't think so thanks to CC making it frailer, +1 Volc and Specs Pult don't have problems in killing it, However it's indeed golden against HO. Don't 6-0 but check it very well. Then I ask doesn't this make Zamazenta even more inconsistent? The fact that the only playstyles Zamazenta-C does well against is HO and Offense? Doesn't make it a matchup-fishy mon? And why being so scared of the good matchup? ORAS SD+Taunt Gliscor destroyed stall in ORAS, does it mean that in ORAS stall is unviable? No. Other Example: ADV Blaziken also destroyes the Standard team of ADV (TSS) does it mean that TSS is unviable? Absolutely not. In fact it's the only niche Blaziken has in ADV. Even that Zamazenta has a good Matchup against HO doesn't mean that the playstyle is unviable. It will make some tweaks to make the matchup against Zama better. The playstyle will adapt. My opinion is that HO has a bad matchup against Zama cores. However the playstyle still can adapt and on my opinion is not a issue. Since we also had in the past mons that are so good against a playstyle and does poorly against the others. So on a short line : The Matchup against offense is not a issue. It's just a strenght and niche of Zamazenta-C on the metagame.idk if this goes here, but doesn't HO kind of get 6-0'd by Zamazenta-C? I mean, it's got great speed, great attack, great bulk, great coverage, and threatens HO staples like Bisharp (zama can just set up in its face unless low kick i think). I don't think Zamazenta-C will be a problem for balance and such because Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Hippowdon all are pretty common. Please let me know your opinions on this :)
A bit off topic, but at the rate Kyurem-Black finally got a proper physical ice STAB + boosting move, Zamazenta-Crowned is almost certainly going to be suspected and be stuck in OU for a couple of gens lol.View attachment 329032
I have been gunning for a ZamaC test for over a year at this point. I’m really excited by the prospect of this mon joining the tier and the building possibilities it opens up. The arguments and replays I have seen point towards ZamaC being a good, but not great addition. Having another knock off/trick immunity around is definitely a net positive for OU. Let’s get this test done before GF decides to give it Body Press
