The Everything NFL Thread - 2009

He pulled the same shit in Oakland, I'm not surprised at all. Also lol @ Jacksonville in the playoffs, I REALLY don't think they're good enough. Miami or Baltimore are MUCH better.

The future looks grim for the Jets fans. Yes, we are tied for the Wild Card right now, but all three teams we're tied with have tie-breakers against us. We need to win more games than all of the other 7-6 teams, and they all need to lose one more than us, in order to get that Wild Card.

... and we're playing the Falcons, Colts, and Bengals to finish it off.

*sigh ... times are tough.

Well, the Cowboys are in a pretty good position, but if it comes down to Cowboys versus Eagles with the playoffs on the line, I may be understandably hopeless for a week...

If I were a Jets fan, I honestly wouldn't get my hopes up. With a tough remaining schedule and inconsistent play thus far, I'd be looking forward to next season. They have alot to build on though, so I think they'll be a contender next year.

As a panthers fan I have to admit, I loved the Hoody's response to Chris Gamble's comments. For a team that just got handed their 8th loss, they really can talk a lot of shit.

Nonetheless, Chris Gamble is only reiterating what people have been saying about Randy all his career.

Woot Niners! Still a chance to slide into the NFC West champ spot if they don't let up on their last 3 games and the Cardinals fuck up on 2 of theirs.

Moss has 14,000 yards+ in his career. I do not really think he cares "how good he has it" or if people want to call Terrell Owens better than him.

Well, the difference between the 3 and 4 seed is obviously gonna be your opponent, and I think right now facing the 6th seed (Baltimore, Jax, Miami, etc) is gonna be a much more favorable matchup than facing the 5th seed (likely Denver). But you're right though, beyond your opponent the 3rd seed doesn't hold much allure.

After an insanely lucky game on my part, I'm first in the Smogon league. :o

I agree, except with the caveat that although facing the Broncos would probably be worse than the Ravens, both are pretty worrisome. Facing the Jaguars has to be the happiest prospect for any team. Facing the Dolphins with Ronnie Brown missing is a lot less threatening than facing them with Ronnie Brown, so I think any team has to be fairly happy to have that outcome too, although they have proven the last few weeks what is always obvious - a lot of teams are good and not really good or great any year, and the Dolphins probably have a good 30-40% chance to beat any good/really good team any week.

also, getting the 3 seed means you'd face san diego instead of indy in the 2nd round. sure, you'd have to get past indy at some point but you could at least delay the inevitable for another week.

not that san diego is a team anyone wants to face right now.

I am worried about the Giants. They are really better than their record shows.

With Kenny Phillips being injured their Defensive backfield is hurting and no one besides cory webster has stepped up.

By next season do you think that the giants will be a more dominant force with their two newbies Nicks and Ware are used to the NFL and Philips is back?

Eh, the Giants are confusing the hell out of me. 5-0 start annihilating (crappy) teams, dropping 5 straight and getting handled badly, then improving again in their last 3 games. I think they have the talent to be a good team, but they are not to be trusted week in and week out. They are as unpredictable as the Steelers and Cardinals.

EDIT: Just came across this and thought it was relevant --

Randy Moss admits he was "not playing at 100%"

Anyways, what do you guys think of San Diego now?

How good are they?
Will they win/lose the rest of their season?
How will they be seeded?
How far will they get?

How good are they?
Good enough to go to the superbowl and get thier asses handed to them by the saints.

Otherwise the Colts could just shit on them.
Will they win/lose the rest of their season?
They will win the next three with ease.

Week 15
Vs. Bengals

Week 16
Vs. Titans

Week17
Vs. Redskins
the only team that will give trouble is the red skins, as they have to all the good teams this season. But chargers will win.
How will they be seeded?
Good Question.
How far will they get?
They will go to the AFC championship hopefully. THey have potential to go all the way, but the Colts have Peyton Manning. Sooo never looking good for Colts opponents.

San Diego may have had a bit of trouble with Dallas, but right now I think they're on fire, possibly the hottest team in the league. Both the Colts and the Saints have had issues in the past few weeks.

They'll likely beat Bengals and 'Skins, IMO, though general consensus states that they may have problems with Tennessee.

I think this year is looking fairly decent for them. The only problem team for them, as far as I can see, is New England, and maybe the Steelers if they somehow get in (though they'll likely be on the other side of the bracket). But between the Chargers' hot streak and the Pats' struggles, I think this year may be the Super Bowl one (though it's doubtful they would beat the Saints). Colts have an awful record against them, too.

So, I dunno. They'll need to keep up the hot streak.

lol are you kidding me? the second the chargers get into the playoffs, the same thing will happen as the last 5 years. LT is going to sit out and chargers will have no running game again (not that they have one with him in). you just aren't going to get that far with no running game right now. you could bring up cards last year but...fitz+boldin are way more superior than jackson+floyd..........

not to mention chargers been on a hot offensive streak. defense still wins people......
