The Everything NFL Thread - 2009

Good win for the Ravens today... in this situation last year we definitely would have given up a touchdown on that last drive. Hopefully it is a sign of a good season.

I was actually a little angry that LT was out, as small, fast running backs really give the Defense problems, as Chris Johnson showed so well last year. I think it wouldn't have been as close if LT was the main back.

It is pretty scary to think if Ed Reed comes alive how good the team could be this year. @Pats and @Vikings should be good indicators in the next coming weeks...

Why not, me too:

Panthers at Falcons
Vikings at Lions
Bengals at Packers
Texans at Titans
Raiders at Chiefs
Patriots at Jets
Saints at Eagles
Rams at Redskins
Cardinals at Jaguars
Browns at Broncos
Ravens at Chargers
Buccaneers at Bills
Seahawks at 49ers
Steelers at Bears
Giants at Cowboys
Colts at Dolphins

Well, 12/15 right for predictions this week, not bad. Now to see if the Colts'll finish off the Dolphins XD

Fuck, now people are going to think Cutler is good...

In response to your post a couple pages ago Pokey, I was probably exaggerating a bit when I said he's "barely" better than Orton. He is better by a good bit. However, he still isn't worth fucking two first round picks, a third rounder, and a fifth rounder. That kind of trade just fucks your draft over. If they want to get a good receiving corps for Cutler to throw to they're not gonna have anything left to trade, and of course they gave up like half their draft picks already...

I think Cutler's receivers made him look better than he is in that game. He was throwing some shitty balls that they had to make amazing moves to actually catch. Plus Pittsburgh had no Polamalu, and Jeff Reed blew 2 field goals he should have made. Regardless, though, can't blame anyone but ourselves. Steelers lost, time to concentrate on Week 3.

I am just really excited that 49ers are actually coming out swinging. Its about time. I am really happy with our defense this year. One of my friends told me that they need to play someone worth playing... eh, Cards? Hello. But hey, Its all good. We're just gonna keep on spankin' some ass. Vikings, we're coming for you! 2-0 Baby! Go Niners!

Fuck, now people are going to think Cutler is good...
People have always thought he was good.

He is better by a good bit.
How about he's leaps and bounds better? It's like going from dog shit lying in the hot sun for an hour to solid gold.

However, he still isn't worth fucking two first round picks, a third rounder, and a fifth rounder. That kind of trade just fucks your draft over.
The Bears have always been terrible at drafting anyway.

Jay Cutler is the only reason Earl Bennett has a fantasy stock now or even known.

I think Cutler's receivers made him look better than he is in that game.

You have to be a complete retard to honestly believe a bunch of no name receivers are making Cutler better. I take it you're going to think the Saints receivers are making Brees look better?

He was throwing some shitty balls that they had to make amazing moves to actually catch.
............................................................

Plus Pittsburgh had no Polamalu
Yeah, the Steelers really needed Polamalu to stop all-star receivers like Earl Bennet.

and Jeff Reed blew 2 field goals he should have made.
Okay? How exactly is that Cutler's problem?

Regardless, though, can't blame anyone but ourselves. Steelers lost, time to concentrate on Week 3.
Fuck the Steelers. Hope Baltimore wins the AFC North.

tom brady lost a game. haven't seen this happy since the giants whooped his ass 18 months ago
Like how he was the one who put the Patriots in the lead late in fourth and the Giants required a once in a lifetime play to win?

Brady is perfectly fine. Peyton had a slow start at first last season and everyone thought he ran out of gas, and he turned out fine.

if Tony Romo didn't play like shit against them, we probably could have won.....i hate the Jets but i'm glad they beat the pats nonetheless

Miami fan hates the Pats and Jets??? Lol!

Eli Manning is so damn clutch! We're going for it again this year :)

I take it that "clutch" means really awesome. =D Yep, hopefully they make it to the NFC Championship (or even beyond.)

You know Pokey, I might be just as biased as you are, but I at least attempt to be respectful toward other people's opinions when I argue. You're letting your hatred of the Steelers cloud your judgement. I love the Steelers, but notice how I said ultimately the loss was on my own team?

Did you actually watch the game? Just because his receivers are "no-names" does not make them bad. I watched Johnny Knox, Kevin Davis, and Greg Olsen haul in some weird balls and make incredible plays from them. That's what I meant by the receivers making him look good.

Also, referring to Jay Cutler as "solid gold" is the same kind of exaggeration you accused me of earlier. A quarterback's value is measured not only by the strength of his arm or the accuracy of his throws, but his ability to motivate and lead a football team. Jay Cutler's crybaby personality made him unable to be a really effective leader in Denver, and I have yet to see evidence of him changing.

That being said, however, it's still too early to tell. The Pittsburgh game could have been a fluke. Vice versa, the Packers game could have been the fluke one. Why don't we watch him for the rest of the season and see what happens?

Baltimore and Pittsburgh will undoubtedly be in close competition for this division for most of the season, and will probably be among the best records in the AFC by virtue of their pansy ass schedules. I very much look forward to when they finally go head to head to see who's better this year.

Doesn't matter. Ever since the Steelers robbed the Seahawks of a Super Bowl I've despised them.

Show these "weird balls" or retract.

What crybaby personality? Cutler had every right to be pissed off at Denver.

Lol, when the Steelers lose it's just a fluke. Lovely.

Try beating them without Danny boy giving the zebras an extra paycheck.

I like how people are saying Eli was clutch last night, but were saying Brady only won his Super Bowls because of Vinatieri. Hypocrisy is lovely.

Because maybe Vinatieri won those games? Eli and Brady marched their teams down the field with tons of clutch plays, and if you only need a FG to win, why go for a touchdown and risk a turnover.

Off topic: Greg Olsen's younger brother, Kevin Olsen, is my friend in my class. =D
So technically, I know a guy from the NFL =D

On topic: Don't just assume that teams will be bad based on one game. It's a set of games (usually 3-5) that tell how the rest of the year might (or might now) go. If you judge now, you're only going to give bad karma to your team. You have to watch at least the first 3 games.

And I know John Elway's son. See, I can lie on the Internet too.

Yeah, let's not not say St. Louis and Detroit suck just yet. It's just been two games.

In other news, how in the holy mother of fuck are the Raiders looking decent despite JaMarcbust not having a single game with 50+% of his passes completed?

can you please stop being a dick to people :/. whether or not doesn't matter, i don't exactly see why he would lie either.

1/8 games have already been completed, when exactly do you want to say they suck? I think it is pretty obvious that the lions are looking just as bad as last year and the division they play in will not be kind at all to them. Rams are playing in a much improved nfc west and being blown out by seattle and then failing to a redskins team that couldn't even score a td is bad news -.-

Raiders don't really look that good. Russell is a bust at QB and I hope they plan on building the franchise on another qb but i truly doubt it will happen. I think beating the chiefs isn't much of an accomplishment and I am pretty sure the raiders will probably go 6-10 at best this year.

Two ways to prove that I'm not lieing, first being that Greg Olsen is from Wayne, NJ, which is where I'm from, 2nd is the fact that I've personally met Greg Olsen, and wow, it felt weird to know an NFL player.

Some teams are obvious to point out that they suck/and or will continue to suck. But others, you gotta give time. Like last year, no one thought that the Steelers were going to the SuperBowl by the time 1/8 of the games were finished.
