Not often you get to laugh at the Patriots!

Darth Belichick must have some ulterior motive for this signing, though. One that isn't "make the best team possible" or something.

Who knows, maybe Tebow can play tight end.

Nobodys laughing. When Rex Ryan does it, its for attention and headlines. When Belicheat does it hes a genius and the best move possible. The bias in the media is disgusting.

For all we know Belicheat did sign him for the headlines lol

I can see this working out 1 of 3 ways:

1) Brady and Mallett both leave football to be male fashion models, with Mallett being Brady's backup on the catwalk. Tebow steps into the starting role and does exactly what he did in denver because he's actually the second coming of Jesus Christ (and none of the credit goes to the rest of the Patriots team). Patriots fans don't care because Brady is gorgeous.

2) Tebow still claims he's a "legitimate" "starting" "quarterback", refuses to change positions for the betterment of the team (and for his own contract), rides the pine behind the two actual quarterbacks on the team, and gets cut somewhere around week 10 for an undisclosed reason, with minimal loss to the Patriots.

3) Tebow realizes that if he wants to be an NFL player whose main position isn't LB (left bench), he needs to become danny woodhead 2.0, catching short screens and being a half back when the team needs 3-4 yards. He succeeds, Belichick is hailed as a genius, Skip Bayless is arrested for public intoxication and public nudity.

Hoping for 3, would put my money on 2, 1 is probably what's going to happen.

edit: the patriots only kept 2 qbs on the roster last year. his spot isn't guaranteed regardless of his "proven winner-ness". if he doesn't perform in camp, he's going to get cut.

That about sums my reaction up.
Ditto.

Is it possible to still like a player after he's signed with a team you really hate? Guess this'll be an odd season...

Let's also remember, Josh McDaniels is still the Patriot's OC, he was the one who wanted and drafted Tebow in Denver to be his QB. If anything, I suspect some people may be having an interest in Mallet after being developed a bit...

Hehhe best post ever.

The Tebow might destroy the Patriots man. You never know. Soo excited!!! Need moar Tebow NOW!

Tebow is a waste of a roster spot. Dont what Belichick is thinking.

Colts sign Ahmad Bradshaw. Pretty good move. Kills Vick Ballard's fantasy value.

NE was probably the only place that would make sense for Tebow to sign, anyway. McDaniels, no QB controversy whatsoever, very well managed/coached team.

Can we stop with the Tebow should play TE/H back? The dude isn't even top 32 QB which is the position he has played his whole life and we're supposed to just accept he would be good enough to be an NFL TE? Give me a break. If the dude can't learn to throw he can't play football.

I've seen the man push a car. He can do it. Plus wtf are you even trying to say? There have been a crapload of players who were qbs in college, sucked in the nfl and became ok at other positions. Also, Tebow ran the ball a lot so we already saw what he can do with the ball in his hands. The only unknown would be his hands. I don't think we've ever seen him catch a pass yet. We have seen him block already lol. It isn't a stretch to think he'd be a good TE because we know at least physically he's nfl caliber.

Why would Belichick be signing him for the headlines? The guy has had his team in the conference championship game 7/12 seasons and 2/last 2, I do not think he needs to fucking manufacture fake hype.

Bill Belichick is the closest thing we have seen to Vince Lombardi & John Madden in a while. Not quite their god tier level but whatever the next best thing is. I would trust him on basically anything.

THIS POST WAS MY 6666TH POST AND WAS ABOUT TEBOW IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE

Pretty much all of them converted to wide receiver not TE.

The Pats have Gronk, Hernandez and Ballard already. Tebow might make a decent TE but he probably wont find that out in New England. In any case when Tebow was a free agent he never came out and said he was willing to try a new position. Everyone knows he cant play QB, but he probably thinks he can.

I can only hope that they make the intelligent decision and actually move him to another position, but I'm betting that this is McDaniels thinking he can fix Tebow and make him a passable QB, lining him up as the replacement to Brady in a few years time.

And if I'm right about that, I will do something very drastic. I swear.

The Patriots Defense was already one of the best against the Read Option last year. They have no need to sign a guy for two years to practice against it.

There's no guaranteed money in the deal, though, as far as I've heard. They could cut him two days from now with no repercussions.

Honestly, I think Tebow can have more of an effect off the field than on it. Whether he serves as a role model or a distraction is what remains to be seen, but if it's the latter then he won't last past the summer in New England.

Im not sure how many people here read PFW (Pro Football Weekly), but after 46 years they are going out of business. Their last Season Preview magazine came out a few days ago and I thought I would post their predictions.

New England 11-5
Miami 9-7
Buffalo 7-9
New York 5-11

Cincinnati 10-6
Baltimore 10-6 (WC)
Pittsburgh 9-7
Cleveland 6-10

Houston 10-6
Indianapolis 7-9
Tennessee 6-10
Jacksonville 4-12

Denver 10-6
Kansas City 10-6 (WC)
San Diego 8-8
Oakland 4-12

New York 9-7
Dallas 7-9
Washington 7-9
Philadelphia 6-10

Green Bay 10-6
Chicago 7-9
Minnesota 7-9
Detroit 5-11

Atlanta 12-4
New Orleans 10-6 (WC)
Carolina 7-9
Tampa Bay 7-9

San Francisco 13-3
Seattle 10-6 (WC)
St. Louis 8-8
Arizona 4-12

SB prediction: 49ers over Denver.

What was that? Predictions?

NFC East and West:

West:

Seahawks 12-4
Cardinals 9-7
49ers 8-8
Rams 7-9

East:

Eagles 11-5
Giants 10-6
Cowboys 8-8
Redskins 5-11

All other divisions are boring.

You may have not noticed but they were trending down later in the season. I can't believe i'm saying this but Kapp(and VD) carried that team in the playoffs. That defense became very average. Problem in 2013 is that, despite their loaded OL, Kapp will struggle and the defense won't be able to make up for it as they did with Captain Checkdown.

So yes, 8-8 is my prediction for the 49ers.

e'rbody sleepin on the saints in trouble

falcons/saints/49ers/seahawks/packers/cowboys
ravens/broncos/patriots/texans/dolphins/steelers

bengals are garbage, its between miami and kc for the wild card slot but ill just go out on a limb and say miami because they were actually good last year for the first 8 games before completely falling apart after giving up because of how unbelievably shitty their luck is. nfc south is the most exciting division in football btw

So a NFL website article I read raised a good point...this is a very odd year for free agency. Just about everyone it seems is getting signed to one year contracts instead of the multiyear deals usually out there, only a couple are getting those. Makes you wonder if those rumors of collusion to not sign big contracts amongst the owners is true or not...

I'll agree on the NFC South. The Saints, last time they had their head coach were the best damn team in the game. The Panthers have the best and most talented young QB in the league. The WRs may not be as proven as other teams and their defense was pretty bad most of the time last year, they do have a star LB. And we all know how much impact a LB of that caliber can have on a team. The defense should improve vastly since a LBs best friends are the fat guys in front of him. And the Panthers loaded the middle to complement good ends. Still 8-8 at best for them cuz the division. Tampa gets a better OL and the scariest(on paper) secondary in the game. If Revis plays like himself the Bucs should have a top 3 defense.

And the meh falcons.

How exactly did Vernon Davis help carry them to the playoffs? It was one his worst seasons. Nine games of 2 or less catches, two games with 0 catches.
