Blindness Mafia - Game Over! Shortsighted win!

Night 4 is over.

You wake up, and you look around. Here is your car, your phone and your TV, though nothing is on. And you see nothing else worth mentioning, most notably no bodies...not that you were very good at looking around anyway.

It is now Day 5. Deadline probably won't be necessary.

Well I hoped this wouldn't be necessary but apparently every killer in the game decided to play Paperboy instead of actually doing their job, so:

Lynch GTS

I will provide logs on demand as well (if I don't post them here directly it's only for the person I talked to's sake), but I can guarantee that we are looking at a farsighted man here.

The request concerning the Spectacles still apply. In fact I am quite interested by anything you might tell me regarding any item.

Don't worry about it.

Day 5 is over.

GTS tried to run from the angry mob that had gathered in his house, but just as he was at his front door Stallion popped up out of nowhere (with the required blue smoke effects) and zapped him back into the room. GTS turned around and tried to run the other way, but suddenly Solstice stopped time for ever, without even talking about the consequences.

Raverist noted that GTS was likely black and rich, and therefore should be taken into custody immediatly. Thorns offered his assistance, and summoned a flock of bats that assaulted GTS. GTS managed to dodge once more, but could not dodge several feminist books thrown at his head by ReyScarface, followed by his own television. That thing wasn't working lately anyway.

Still trying to get his senses right from that last whack, the last thing GTS saw was Accent raising a baseball bat and smacking right through his head.

You did not even bother looking at his forged passport.

Dear LonelyNess/GTS,
You are Zeus.

You are the mightiest God that exists, or at least, that's supposed to exist, and only among the Greek ones. Nonetheless, you can't mess with a man who throws lightning around. The Farsighted agreed, and you were recruited into their ranks to destroy the Shortsighted.

Your team's details are included in another PM.

You have some additional information. You know that your brother Poseidon and your wife Hera have joined the ranks of the Shortsighted. They know of each other's and your existence as well, but not their alliance or identity. Also, unlike them, you know they both posess the ability to change the order of the player list. Claiming you can do the exact same may be an above average idea.

You are aligned with the Farsighted. You win if the Farsighted win.

The Farsighted have been eliminated. The Shortsighted win Blindness Mafia!

Here's the postgame I prepared as we went along. First, all the roles and comments...

Neutrals

Dear Kannon,
You are the Cyclops.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. And that king is you. Or would be if it weren't for all the others in your kingdom.

At night, you may send a PM entitled Night X Crushing USER. In the main body of the PM, you may describe the violence used to kill your target. You may only use this ability three times every four nights, excluding Night Zero.

Whenever you are not violently crushing anyone, you will instead hide in your cavern. While hiding in your cavern, none of these shortsighted or farsighted can find you. The randomization of their target will be rigged not to target you, but they will not know it. However, if they are using ways to bolster their eyesight, such as Spectacles or a Pill, they will be able to find you. You may not hide in your cavern for more than two nights out of four.

You have a potential ally in Bill Gates, who has expressed interest in working with both you and the Farsighted. You do not know who Bill Gates is, but you can use his MSN Messenger to contact the Farsighted.

As long as Bill Gates is alive, you may send a PM entitled Night X Using MSN Messenger. Whatever you write in the main body will be delivered to the Farsighted without giving away who or what you are.

You are in posession of the Spectacles, once property of Gyro Gearloose. While holding the Spectacles, you can see your target properly and therefore will not have your target randomized the way everyone else does. If you ever lose posession of the Spectacles, you will be as far- or shortsighted as anyone else!

If you are looking for false claim inspiration, you may want to claim Darkwing Duck (Disney) or any female Harry Potter character, as none of these are in the game. This info will not be revealed if you are ever inspected or killed.

You are aligned with yourself. You win when the Farsighted and the Shortsighted are both eliminated.

Role: A "Dark Link" wolf (protects self when not killing) in blindness flavor, which makes him harder to find shady. Normally, if you inspect someone and get no results, you're going to find it suspicious, but this way they'd need to catch him a killing night, or use a pill. Or steal his specs...I had them start with them so he could kill whatever he wanted first, rather than worrying about killing himself/mafia/Bill Gates. MSN Messenger allows him to drop lines to the mafia so they can collab kills.

Player: I chose...I mean randomized Kannon for this because I didn't want to pick any of the top players, but I didn't want a total fool handling my precious Cyclops either. Kannon delivered only to an extent, sadly. He gave the part of his role PM that incriminates Bill Gates to Bass, which is part of the reason Jimbo was lynched. And he told the Farsighted who he was, for which there was no reason either, but that didn't end up hurting anything. I had some hope for him when Bass died, but Exarius got him lynched just in time. Hey, at least you didn't tell Dabura every role on your team this time!

Dear Jimbo,
You are Bill Gates.

You are the man behind Microsoft, the leading computer technology corporation. This makes you the richest as well as the single most resourceful man on the planet.

You have ties with the Farsighted, and promised to help them eliminate the Shortsighted. In addition, you have stumbled upon a certain person who cares for neither the Shortsighted nor the Farsighted, but Microsoft Word crashed when you were saving his personal information, so you do not know where to find him right now.

While you are alive, the Farsighted and this mysterious person will be able to have limited anonymous communication.

At night, you may send a PM entitled Night X Sending e-mail to USER's Hotmail account. Whatever you write in the main body will be delivered to them anonymously. You may also send a PM entitled Night X Holding Microsoft Press Conference. Whatever you put in the main body will be publicized in the next update. You cannot send an e-mail and give a press conference during the same night.

If you are targeted by any kind of inspection ability, your role name and flavor will be treated as Steve Jobs, but your night roles and win condition will remain the same.

You are aligned with Microsoft Corporation. You win if the Shortsighted do not win.

Role: I felt a neutral that won with either evil sides was necessary considering the village had some insane firepower: four investigating roles, lynch majority and above all the combination of Pills and Lisbeth Salander as Vigilante. And I liked the idea of a passive role that allows the mafia and wolf to communicate, something which I've incorporated into RTMs pretty often. His own role could just be used to fake claim, or to prove himself to mafia, etc. The inspection thing is more of a joke inspired by Gmax...it doesn't change a whole lot for him, though since the mafia and wolf know him as Bill Gates, it would put him in an annoying position if he plays his cards wrong.

Player: I was kind of disappointed, tbh. The two different announcement methods as well as the weird'd inspect result gave quite some creative potential to work with, but Jimbo claimed neutral to Bass and only really started faking when he was already on the lynch block. Then again, Kannon pasted the part of his PM that says Bill Gates works with the Farsighted to Bass, and he couldn't know that. Thankfully, Lightwolf had arranged another way of anonymous communication with "the friend of Bill Gates" during Night 0. Also, blue_light trolled him to hell and back by claiming he was in the game regardless of not being on the list, and could save him from the lynch if he posted something among the lines of I ACCEPT SATAN AS MY SAVIOR. Clueless Jimbo.

Farsighted

They were one diverse ass bunch to make the flavor interesting. I love open theme.

Dear NAGGERS,
You are the Farsighted.

Angry Video Game Nerd, also known as Lightwolf
Paris Hilton, also known as assassinfred
Eric Cartman, also known as -mind-
Zeus, also known as LonelyNess

You have five abilities that you can use to gain victory. None of these will use Smogon PMs to work. Instead, we will be using IRC and/or Google Docs to decide targets. Most other roles in the game use the normal role PM method.

During Night 0, you can receive up to four host-written false claims. This ability cannot fail.

You also have the ability to change one user's position on the list. This ability ignores the "blindness" effect. You can only use it twice in the game. It cannot fail, but it has the lowest priority out of any action.

You also have the abilities to kill a user, steal a user's item and inspect a user (receives whole role PM). Each of these requires an executioner and a target, and they are all suspectible to the "blindness" effect.

Every time one of you dies, one of your abilities will be revealed.

You know that a person named Bill Gates is greatly interested in the demise of the Shortsighted as well. He has left you with an e-mail address to send messages to, claiming it is not his, but of another friend's who will gladly help take out the Shortsighted, though you should be wary of his motives. You will be able to send messages to this person as long as Bill Gates is alive.

If you are looking for false claim inspiration, you may want to claim Britney Spears, Hades (Hercules), Will Smith, or any male Harry Potter character, since none of these are in the game.

Read the rules carefully and prepare to deceive these Shortsighted, while keeping in mind your own vision is not perfect either!
Role: An experimental way of handling the mafia, again somewhat derived from RTM. None of these abilities would die, but they would be revealed upon a mafia member's death.

Kill and inspect needs no explanation. Thief allows them to get more pills. They only have 2, but they wouldn't really need more until lategame. It also was one more way to get the specs off the wolf. The false claims were more for the beginning players than for the expert ones...I don't like it when mafioso are lynched just because they mess up their punctuation or do not match my writing style. I just wrote four fake PMs for them during Night 0 and left it at that. List name changer is both for providing Zeus with a false claim and to be able to target more optimally.

Dear Lightwolf,
You are the Angry Video Game Nerd.

You are going to take them back to the past, and play this shitty game that sucks ass. You'd rather eat the rotten asshole of a roadkilled skunk than see the Shortsighted win this game. You will use all of your gaming skills to kick their ass, and then down your victory with some Rolling Rock beer.

Your team's details are included in another PM.

You are in posession of a Pill.

You are also in posession of an NES gaming system. Anyone in posession of the NES will be busy playing it all night, unable to execute a night role. However, if anyone tries to kill you while playing an NES game, they will instead take the controler from you and play NES. You can choose to give away the NES, but it will not prevent your target from using their night role for that night.

You are aligned with the Farsighted. You win if the Farsighted win.

Role: Contributes a pill and the NES. The NES, which is essentially the Mafia Mafia Porn + Fire Emblem's Shadowy Cloak, was a last minute addition, a stellar item for lategame to prevent suicide or kills in general. It compensates the fact that they have no bodyguard, but only to an extent, as the holder cannot execute night roles. It's fine for the mafia to have because they can just pick other members to execute the roles, but it becomes more of a hot coal item for village and wolf.

Player: Lightwolf is no longer the man he once was in DBZ. Ever since Viva la Mafia, this guy is on top of things. During Night 0, he and LN used the false claim ability as efficiently as possible to give all four of the Farsighted a role PM to work with. Then he proceeded to think up the genius plan to create a new spreadsheet and two new e-mail accounts, one for him and associates, and one for the wolf, who the anonymous message went to. This allowed them to have almost real time communication over a Google sheet, which was extremely amusing to watch. Sadly, he claimed mayor and was exposed in a tie lynch by Bass, then killed by Accent.

Dear assassinfred,
You are Paris Hilton.

You are a talentless girl born in extremely fortunate circumstances which allowed you to get contracts with musical labels, modeling agencies and fashion brands. Opinions on you and your behavior differ: personally you think you're amazing, pretty much everyone else does not. The Farsighted do not either,

Your team's details are included in another PM.

You are in posession of a Pill. You may or may not be pregnant.

You are aligned with the Farsighted. You win if the Farsighted win.

Role: Another pill, not much else.

Player: The only Farsighted that was not on IRC when this game started! Regardless of that, he was active and got his false claim out, but unfortately he was kidnapped by the Genie and obviously refused to give his role PM to be let out. Reason enough for Salander's second and last pill kill.

Dear -mind-,
You are Eric Cartman.

You may be only a fourth grader, but you are one of the most dangerous beings alive. Your hatred for jews, redheads and Scott Tenorman and everyone else that doesn't put up with you is only surpassed by your genius when it comes to executing plans to get rid of them. In this situation, the Shortsighted will be your target, and the rest of the Farsighted will help you.

Your team's details are included in another PM.

You have some additional information. You know that the Shortsighted were not so insightful to bring a thief, mayor or rogue.

You are aligned with the Farsighted. You win if the Farsighted win.

Role: Some false claim information, and that's it.

Player: -mind- was active and did what he could, but he also made some mistakes...for some reason he thought he should tell Bass some kind of (fake) inspect result when his falseclaim was rogue. And later on, when Lightwolf was no longer there, he believed Accent's neutral claim, and told him he knew all the mafia, then proceeded to give him four names that were not mafia. At that point the Farsighted were already quite boned though, so none of this really mattered, but be careful with your words next time!

Role: A connection with two village roles. It's stated in Hera's and Poseidon's PMs that they are not sure which of the other two is clean, if any. An easy set-up for a fake claim.

Player: LN played pretty well, basically starting the planning with Lightwolf as soon as they got their roles, and getting in touch with the other Gods. He got the expected Zeus false claim. Unfortunately, he became more of a marked man once Kannon killed imperfectluck. Then LN had to leave and GTS came in instead, who was instantly kidnapped, then couldn't do anything for a night due to holding the NES, and finally he got lynched.

Shortsighted

The Shortsighted had to work together to win. They could actually kill more often than either evil side as long as Lisbeth kept on hitting good targets, but their kill could also perish much more easily, and of course with blindness, has to be much more careful. It has three "grouped" villagers who know of the existence of other roles, and several other ways to unite. Tom Hagen, Batman, Genie and Goku are their main investigative roles. The Veronicas are just meant to keep them safe. Gyro and Little Helper make roles, most notably Lisbeth Salander, actually reliable. The other roles are borderline useless.

Dear Bass,
You are Gyro Gearloose.

You are a genius inventor as well as an anthropomorphic chicken. You have invented many bizarre things, that are sometimes helpful, and sometimes disastrous.

One of your inventions is Little Helper, your enlightning assistant, but you cannot remember where you put him. Locating him will be in your best interest. The same goes for your lost Spectacles.

You have also invented the Pills that cure the blindness that affects you and almost everyone else. At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Making a Pill for USER" You will produce a Pill and put it in your target's inventory. Little Helper has the same ability: if both of you target the same person, this ability will ignore the blindness effect. If you target different users, your targeting will take priority, and it will not ignore the blindness effect.

You only have material for a total of three new Pills right now, but thankfully you've already distributed some amongst other people.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: One of the main storyline roles, he's mentioned to the Cyclops (he has the specs), and has a connection with Little Helper. Crucial to make Lisbeth actually usable. After a revision with Gmax, I decided to limit his pill maximum to three, but considering how short small games are, I didn't think it made much of a difference.

Player: I always imagined Gyro as the village gathering role, and Bass actually ended up doing it. It took him a bit to find Exarius, who held off from contacting him for a slight bit. But he had a spreadsheet full of claims to, and even pinned down pretty much all the evil men as suspicious in one place or another. Another greatly improved player, again looking back to DBZ Mafia (though small is very different from big). Killed by Kannon on Lightwolf's command...he was being protected, but fucked over by blindness.

Dear Exarius,
You are Little Helper.

You are just a metal stick figure with a lightbulb for a head, but you mean a lot to your creator, Gyro Gearloose. He accidentally threw you in the trashcan, and now you're not sure where he's at. It will be in your best interest to find him.

Gyro has invented the Pills that cure blindness, which affect almost everyone right now. At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Making a Pill for USER" You will produce a Pill and put it in your target's inventory. Gyro Gearloose has the same ability: if both of you target the same person, this ability will ignore the blindness effect. If you target different users, Gyro's targeting will take priority, and it will not the ignore blindness effect.

There is a maximum amount of Pills that can be produced, but you aren't sure what it is.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Almost exactly the same as Gyro.

Player: After Bass found him, he pretty much played his part. He died one night after Bass, but thankfully Bass left him the spreadsheet...I don't know why he asked everyone to claim to him again. It could have been a nice way to confuse the mafia, I guess. He was instantly killed the night after due to unlucky blindness (mafia hit him through blindness, bodyguard didn't), but before that he managed to pass all his info to Accent.

Dear Lord Jesseus,
You are Goku.

You are the protagonist of DragonBallZ, every teenage boy's favourite show. It doesn't matter if it takes you one, ten or a hundred episodes to power up: you manage to kill the villains, pretty much always.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Instant Transmission to USER" You will use your teleportation technique to find out your target's rolename.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Role name checker. He was unable to really clean anyone because of the open theme, but if someone lied about their role name, he could catch them.

Player: New, enthousiastic...and a bit clueless, to say the least. It's not a good idea to claim your ability in the open when there's a guy (Bass) running around gathering the village information. However, he always sent in his PMs extremely quickly, so please stick around and learn!

Dear RB Golbat,
You are Tom Hagen.

You are the sharp, loyal and experienced consigliére of the Corleone Family, who treat you like one of them even though you are not Sicilian. This allows you to have great connections around the entire world, which will definitely prove useful.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Scanning a small town's records about USER" You will blend in the outside world to investigate upon your target, and find out their alliance at the end of the night.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: It was almost a coincidence that my Megaman Mafia Consigliére got this role. Standard alliance checker.

Player: Forgot to send his PM Night 0, then killed before he could do anything. Not much more can be said, we obviously know he could have done better.

Dear Thorns,
You are Batman.

You are the caped crusader, a vigilante who fights for justice in Gotham City. You witnessed the murder of your parents as a child, which inspired you to fight criminals. No game of mafia is complete without Batman!

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Chasing USER in the Batmobile" You will follow your target's car around all night, and by the end of it you will know exactly who your target has visited.

If you choose not to chase someone around in the Batmobile, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Watching over USER's house" If anyone visits your target's home, you will know by the end of the night.

You are in posession of the Blindfold. While you have the Blindfold, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Blindfold USER" Your target will be blindfolded for that night, and instead of the usual blindness randomization spanning over 3 users (1 above, correct and 1 under), it will span over 5 (2 above, correct and 2 under). Being blindfolded negates the use of anything that enhances eyesight. After a night of being blindfolded, the blindfolded gains posession of the Blindfold. If your target is not using a night role that involves targeting, they will simply receive the blindfold.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: One of the most diverse ones in the game. Watcher, Tracker, and holder of the Blindfold all in one. The Blindfold was meant more as a help to the mafia than for the village, considering inaccuracy helps them more. Negating pills is pretty damn mean.

Player: Blindfolded Jimbo during Night 0, who happened to be using his Hotmail ability that night, though it didn't matter much who that message ended up on. Did all of idling, watching and tracking at least once...didn't really get anything of significance though. He also got hooked by MC Hammer on the last night. Yeah, I think he just followed the leader's orders 24/7.

Dear ReyScarface,
You are Oprah Winfrey.

You are the host of one of the most popular talkshows in the United States. Some say you are one of the world's most influental women, which is quite an achievement considering you have to deal with being black. And being a woman.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X It felt like a new day" In the main body of the PM, you must specify what will be on television in the morning. You can obviously put on your own show, or any other show, a movie, a news bulletin...or you can just turn the television off!

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: A troll. One of those "modify part of the update post" roles. Useless other than to prove that you can do it.

Player: He couldn't do much except vote, so I can't really blame him for the occasional idle. His choices for programs were pretty awesome though!

Dear jumpluff,
You are MC Hammer.

Fresh new kicks and pants, you got it like that and you know you wanna dance! So move out of your seat, and get a fly girl and catch this beat!

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X And this is a beat USER can't touch" You will sound the bells (school's in, sucker!) and prevent your target from completing their night role. Instead, they will be told some music hit them so hard it made them say "OH MY LORD".

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Standard hooker, but with really whicked flavor, if I may say so myself.

Player: Gotta bust those funky lyrics. After distributing roles I realized how funny this was, considering jumpluff was Vanilla Ice in Viva la Mafia, and we were contemplating having her false claim MC Hammer for fun. She didn't hook anything significant ever, just did the normal village thing.

Dear Accent,
You are Lisbeth Salander.

You are believed to be one of the most dangerous women alive. While you are small and look like a child, you have experience attacking people with various weapons including a golf club, an axe and a stun gun.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Putting USER on list of people to be visited" You will kill your target with whatever means are at your disposal. Be careful though, because your ability, like almost any other, is affected by blindness.

If you ever kill anyone aligned with the Shortsighted, you will be unable to kill anyone during the next night, since you will spend it behind your laptop trying to find a better target than your last one.

You are in posession of a Pill.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: If I'm going to get flak for any role, it'll be this. A vigilanté that kills every night? Superstrong, right? Well, blindness turns it pretty much into a one time kill unless the player gets in touch with Gyro or Genie for more pills, as killing while under the blindness effect is downright foolish. I also counted on Lisbeth not being trusted so easily, considering she is such an obscure character, and a semi-good wolf candidate flavor wise.

Player: Probably the MVP role-wise, he killed two out of four Farsighted with the pills he got, and would have killed the last one with the Spectacles on if it weren't for the NES. Also fooled -mind- pretty badly in a funny convo, and let the last stretch of the game after Bass and Exarius bit the bullet. I expected no less from my pupil.

Dear Phantasia,
You are Jessica Origliasso.

You are one of the Veronicas, a pop-rock group from Australia. You and your twin sister have been making catchy music since your founding in 2004, and ever since you both make for great guilty pleasures. Take that as you will.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X I'll never ever let you leave, USER" Your target will be safe from being killed during the night. You may protect yourself, but you may not protect the same user twice in a row.

Your sister, Lisa Origliasso, is in this game as well. Finding her will be in your best interest.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Standard RTM bodyguard, and another one of those "you know that ___ is in the game" pairs that promotes village unison. At first, these two were going to be more powerful, having items that auto-protected their sisters...but after talking it over I decided to remove them. The less items the better!

Player: Found his sister Solstice Night 0, then proceeded to bodyguard the village leader 24/7. Unfortunately, Blindness threw a monkey wrench in there and twice he had to see his intended target die at night. That couldn't stop him though!

Dear Solstice,
You are Lisa Origliasso.

You are one of the Veronicas, a pop-rock group from Australia. You and your twin sister have been making catchy music since your founding in 2004, and ever since you both make for great guilty pleasures. Take that as you will.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Never wanna hear you say goodbye, USER" Your target will be protected from all night roles other than killing. You may protect yourself, but you may not protect the same user twice in a row.

Your sister, Jessica Origliasso, is in this game as well. Finding her will be in your best interest.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Standard safeguard.

Player: The only thing I haven't said yet about these two is that Solstice actually saved Kannon's spectacles from being stolen by the Farsighted once. Lalalala. Lalalala. Oh, and he got the Blindfold after Jimbo died, then never did anything with it. Not sure if this was intentional.

Dear Stallion,
You are the Genie.

You are the cheerful and hilarious genie, freed from the lamp by Aladdin from his last wish. Your magical powers know pretty much no bounds. I can assure you, they've never had a friend like you!

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Can your friends do this, USER?" You will trap your target in the wonderlamp for the whole day, rendering them unable to post. Any vote they make by any method will not count. At the start of the day, they will get the option of surrending their role PM. If they choose to do this, they are freed by the end of the day, and you will receive their role PM. If they do not, they will stay in the lamp during the upcoming night, unable to execute any night actions, and only be released at the end of that night.

For example, if you trap someone in the lamp during Night 1, they will get the option of surrending their role PM at the start of Day 1, and will be unable to post/vote during Day 1. If they do surrender their role PM, they are released before Night 2 starts. If they do not, they will stay in the lamp during Night 2, and be released at the start of Day 2 instead.

You may not trap the same user in the lamp more than once in the game. If you are killed while a user is trapped in the lamp, your killer will rub the lamp, releasing the prisoner.

You are in posession of a Pill.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: One of my favourite roles (as well as characters), invented completely seperately from Simpsons Mafia's Luigi. It had the most powerful inspect result (whole role PM). If someone refuses their role PM, the Genie could label them as mafia...though kidnappers are often found on mafia teams, so it was possible that if he captured a villager, he would refuse to give his role to a potential mafian and stay in the lamp.

Player: Stallion idled a lot, sadly, though mostly at a point in the game where it didn't matter anymore. He kidnapped two of the Farsighted, both of which refused to surrender their PM, making them even more suspicious.

Dear Raverist,
You are Sergeant Harrison Yates.

You are a hilariously incompetent and/or corrupt police officer operating in South Park, Colorado. Your logic makes absolutely no sense, but strangely enough most of your men take your orders without hesitation.

Through investigation, you have learned that this game counts 13 people aligned with the Shortsighted, 5 aligned with the Farsighted, and 2 aligned with neither of those. Or was it 14 Shortsighted, 3 Farsighted, 3 unaligned? Or was it 14 Shortsighted, 5 Farsighted, 1 unaligned? Maybe it was 14 Shortsighted, 4 Farsighted and 2 unaligned. It's gotta be one of those. You will keep working on this case, and if you are ever killed, the correct amount will be revealed to the public.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Another near-useless role, not even a proper headcount until the inevitable death!

Player: Advertised his own role, but much more subtly than Lord Jesseus. And that's about all he could do.

Dear Tyranidos,
You are Poseidon.

You are the Greek god of the sea and of the earthquakes. You and a couple of other Greek gods, like your brother Zeus and his wife Hera, have stepped into this war of blindness, though there has been plenty of dispute amongst the three of you. Therefore, you are not sure whether they are aligned with you or not.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Causing an earthquake in USER's country" You will stir through your target's land's soil, causing his position among players to be shifted. In the main body, you must specify how far up or down you wish to move your target on the player list. After two earthquakes, the land needs time to restore, so you will be unable to cause any more earthquakes after that. Causing earthquakes is unaffected by the blindness effect. It also takes quite some time, so it will happen after all the current night's actions.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: List position changer, and part of a trio with two clean and one evil. Limited to two times because I don't want to change the list every damn night.

Player: Was going to get lynched until Bass decided to tie it up. Used up his charges extremely quickly so he could cruise through the rest of the game. He obtained the Spectacles from the Kannon lynch, but no one had a clue where it came from even though it could have been deduced from the rules and flavor. Passed them to Accent to turn him into a risk-free vig for the last night.

Dear imperfectluck,
You are Hera.

You are the Greek goddess of women and marriage. You and a couple of other Greek gods, like your husband Zeus and his brother Poseidon, have stepped into this war of blindness, though there has been plenty of dispute amongst the three of you. Therefore, you are not sure whether they are aligned with you or not.

At night, you may send a PM entitled "Night X Rallying feminists to change USER's rank" You will use your godly influences to cause a bunch of angry men-haters to change your target's position among players to be shifted. In the main body, you must specify how far up or down you wish to move your target on the player list. After two rallies, everyone will grow tired of feminism and start ignoring them, so you will be unable to cause any more rallies after that. Feminist rallies are unaffected by the blindness effect. Since women are somewhat slow in understanding, this action will take place after all the current night's actions.

You are aligned with the Shortsighted. You win if the Shortsighted win.

Role: Same as Poseidon.

Player: Moved jumpluff next to himself just to fuck around. Considered false claiming his role name to LN because he didn't want to tell him he was his wife. Yeah, this is just typical imperfectluck at work. Lightwolf ordered Kannon to murder him, mostly because the two people next to him on the player list weren't really bad targets either, but he couldn't know that Kannon wasn't affected by blindness due to the spectacles, so he ended up a dead man.

Awards

I've already said enough about people who fucked up, so here's just some positive rewards for you.

Best Farsighted - Lightwolf. For his cunning idea of the Don't Kill Bill spreadsheet.
Best Shortsighted - Bass. For uniting the entire village and having an essentially complete and correct spreadsheet in no time (including having all Farsighted marked as suspicious). Honorable mentions to Exarius and Accent for following up.
Best Troll - blue_light. Even though he was not playing, for fooling Jimbo with the Satan thing. Honorable mention to Accent for his interrogation of -mind-.

Blindness Mafia MVP - Bass.

You know, I learned something today...

On first sight, it looks like the village was way too strong...tbh I expected some major fuck-ups on the village's part to make it closer than it should have been, but they just all claimed to Bass and he worked it out correctly from there. The fact that the Neutrals were...less than stellar did not help much either. If I were to do it again, I would probably change the following:
- Delete at least one of the "village connections (Veronicas/Greek Gods/Gyro+Helper)" to make gathering harder.
- Add an extra Farsighted. I keep having to remind myself this might end up overkill because essentially Bill Gates is their added member but...this is probably better.
- Nerf Lisbeth Salander some more. Maybe make her unable to use more than one pill or something.

I hope you all had fun playing!

Yea I played terribly because of three things: my own stupidity, Bass catching me at a bad time, and Kannon telling Bass that Bill Gates was evil. I'd like to know why he didn't delete that from his PM or at least try to contact me first :/

I gotta say, this went just about perfect. Bass got the claims, and ordered to lynch Kannon. Then he died, and during that day and night I was in lead, I got help from Accent that proved the mafia-members (Thanks Mind!). Then I just laid in the plan on our sheet, and Accent did the rest. But without him, it would have been very hard to grab this win. so I vote Accent for MVP (after Bass) :P

And this was quite fun, but damn I was stressed those days when I was in the lead of the village, with Exams and shit too :justin2:

Had fun this game. I actually believed that Kannon had a partner since he was immune to things on the night he was killing.

Oh yeah the sheet in question is here

Had I known that the village had so many ways to gain information I would not have wasted a pill there just targeted him and let the blindness do the work for us.

I'm still sad that lynch votes were not effected by blindness. :(

jump, it ain't that I be hatin' the roles, yo, it that I be hatin' the fact that in mafias I've been in, I've only had pretty much vanilla roles. True, in Megaman mafia I had a lynchblock, but that would have been pretty useless since the mafias there weren't so skilful.

Ah well, here's hoping another game comes round where I can actually do something useful other than add to the number of duds the mafia can kill.

To be honest, leading the village wasn't my intention, at least initially. I know that my reputation in mafia was stained quite a bit due to my mistakes in Viva La Mafia, so I was a little doubtful of my ability to lead. However, once I finally got in touch with Exarius, we briefly flirted with the idea as we realized that knowing the right people to send the pills to early in the game would be most beneficial to the Shortsighted.

Exarius, being relatively new, suggested that I should step up to the plate, and I certainly did once it was Day 1! I played the role of the village leader very stereotypically, publicly revealing my own role (and Little Helper's existence so there would be another source to go to in case I died) and ruthlessly demanding for claims. In past games, it seemed normal for a few mafia members to not have claims ready during Day 1, but surprisingly, almost everyone claimed to me right away, and most of the roles looked legitimate too! The exception of course was Jimbo, whose stubbornness made him an easy Day 1 lynch target.

At that point, however, it was difficult to find the Farsighted due to their false claims being written by Mekkah. I was however suspicious of LightWolf due to not voting for Jimbo on Day 1, as well as the fact that a mayor Dumbledore claim seemed pointless in this game, so I deliberately tied the next lynch to publicly out him (and then have Accent kill him the following night with the pill I gave him). By then I had already learned that Kannon was wolf since he claimed he was hooked (I knew that Solstice safeguarded him), and -Mind- was Farsighted because Thorns' chasing ability contradicted his rogue claim. Finally, assassinfred and LonelyNess were found out by the fact that they refused to reveal their role PM to Stallion, who I trusted despite his kidnapping role. Unfortunately, I did not transfer ALL of this information to the spreadsheet before my death. Although I died early (Despite having bg protect me AND hooker target Kannon), I am glad that Exarius and Accent thankfully finished up the work that I had started, so we were able to cruise on to victory.

...and that's pretty much it. Again, even though I died early, I still had a lot of fun playing in a leadership role instead of a sheep role for once. And thanks to Mekkah for hosting this game! Despite the fact that this game lacked the mighty dak's approval, I enjoyed the blindness concept (even though it is what killed me).

EDIT: That spreadsheet was very amusing, good work LW!

Maybe I should elaborate myself a bit...

After Bass got himself killed due to our BG getting blindfucked, I had access to our spreadsheet, and an order to lynch Kannon, but nothing else! Since Bass planned not to die, I didn't have any form of logs between Bass and the other players. So I decided to start collecting claims, since a couple of the roles in the spreadsheet looked kind of weird (Rey and Raverist especially). In Raverist's case there was only the fact he fnds out how many players each faction has when he dies, and nothing else, and Reys looked pretty fake to me. Due to these facts I was suspicious on these 2. Also the fact Mind was rogue.

As Bass said, I am new, and I was wondering: "wtf can you do with a self-resurecting ability?" Thus, when Accent took contact with me, I asked him to talk with Mind and try to lure out his role. With Accent faking himself as a neutral, Mind slipped that he is, in fact, a mafia. Personally I wanted to lynch off Mind that day, but after a nights sleep, and that PM I mentioned in the post earlier, when Bass had died, I decided to kill off Kannon, as Bass left me to do. Maybe I could use Mind to find out the rest of Farsighted. And Accent managed it. Then I just left him access to the same spreadsheet, and orders what to do (kill Mind that day, and GTS the following night). Then I died, but the rest you know already. Mind got lynched, and GTS the day after.

Also I found it hilarious when Rey contacted me after Accent had talked to him, and he goes "Lynch Accent if I die! Don't trust him and don't talk to him!" and since I asked Acc to talk with Rey, I knew what was going on :P Still it was hilarious to watch.

And again, very funny to play!

Thanks Mekkah for hosting this, it was fun - and you used the blindness effect very well, so it actually ended up being something to consider when making up strategies rather than an annoying luck factor (that's probably thanks to the items which were not common but quite important).

A few comments:

-The fact that Jimbo's message landed on me did matter, because it confirmed his role in a way. Since I was in contact with Bass at that point, he had no doubt about the lynch.

-When I got my role PM I immediately thought, 'ok, if I don't fuck up, this is gonna be interesting'. Which led me to lie to Bass and tell him that I didn't have any pill, so I had two when I started killing things. It was beneficial, but a while later when I helped Exarius to get info by claiming neutral, I noticed how believable my neutral claim actually was, and I was quite worried that Exarius would become suspicious of me... But I kept killing mafia so it didn't happen.

-Another way to reequilibrate the game would have been to balance out the fact that Gyro had so much potential as a claim gatherer by making village roles more suspicious - I'm thinking about Batman, the Genie, MC Hammer (because pluff had it) or obviously Lisbeth. Any of these could have had some sort of restriction or slightly different blindness effect or slightly altered WC, or even compromising flavour, to make Bass more doubtful.

-I think Stallion idled mostly because we asked him to, to avoid kidnapping important roles due to blindness. He complained about it himself. And I was the one to suggest the documentary on prawns to Rey!

I can't think of anything else for now. Congrats everyone, thanks again Mekkah :)

good game, guys! I had fun, and thanks to Mekkah for hosting!

I actually thought we were screwed long before Mind gave our roles to Accent (although that didn't help). To be exact, the day I was kidnapped. Not matter what I did in that situation, I would be labelled as mafia. So, I did what any mafia would, and did not give my role PM to Stallion, and we even came up with an explanation as to why I didn't. This explanation was to say that "the real world" got in the way, and so I did not have time to give my role away. When Bass died, I did not see this necessary, but perhaps I should've anyway. Oh well.

Then, of course, the day I was released, LightWolf was dead and GTS kidnapped. LightWolf was the one who led our team, so obviously it went downhill from there. I assumed the leadership role at that point, despite not having done it before. I thought I knew what it took, considering in the majority of the Mafia games I've joined, I have been mafia. In fact, I think Cereal Killer mafia was the only one where I've actually been village, and I was killed Night 1 in that >__<. Anyways, back to the point.

The first, and only night I was in command of my team, I killed Exarius, and Mind was to inspect Raverist. I also stole from jumpluff. While the kill on Exarius was successful, it cost me my life. I have no idea what happened with out other two night actions, though. This night was also the night Mind told us Accent was a neutral. I honestly wasn't sure what to do, so I asked Mind what Accent's ability was. He did not know. At that point I knew something was up. That's when the day came, and I was dead, and Mind on the chopping block. GTS was, of course, killed the next day, and the Farsighted were no more.

MVPs: Bass, Exarius, LightWolf, and Accent. Bass and Exarius obviously for leading the village so well, LightWolf for leading our team, and Accent for successfully moling his way to the Farsighted. Well played, guys, well played.
