Cossack makes a point about it being very inconvenient for every when it comes to everyone's real lives. PEOPLE HAVE LIVES. But if you takes it from a competitive standpoint, BadIntent makes a better point. It's MUCH better if less people know about it, since it improves your chance at winning, and heck getting in. Then again, I guess I'm biased, since I don't have to go to work or anything like that.

True. While I understand the competitive thought process, it's going to be a lot of idiots, so whatever. Either way, I'm not going to go to stop XYZ just for the tournament.

Seattle: Catch a Mariners game, hope Cliff Lee is starting, Space Needle, etc.

Philly: Pull a Rocky and run up the Museum stairs (and die in the process), Phillies game(s) (if they're home), eat at Ralph's (http://www.ralphsrestaurant.com - if there's a Philly stop and anyone is going, I highly recommend this place), shop at King of Prussia, and there's plenty of other things to do.

New York City: It's New York City, what isn't available to occupy your time? :)

Wow, I thought I was the only person to think of running up the museum steps and going to the Rock y steps x). As for New York.... THIS IS NEW YORK. The greatest city there ever was. The City That Never Sleeps, the Gotham, the Big Apple, the Capital of the World, etc.

@ViperGTS - the only two reason they won't announce it are:
1. They want to piss us off, and hold us off, so that we don't have much time to prepare. This, however, makes nobody happy.
2. They haven't reserved all the locations yet. Of course, they're going to want to release them all at the same time, but to do so, they would have to reserve all of them first. I don't see why they can't reserve it months in advance though. Awww well, it's way too late to change anything. We just have to wait *groans*

I guess we already know the dates? I got an e-mail saying this though when I asked about Canada:

The dates and locations of the 2010 VGC events will be announced next week. Please keep an eye on www.pokemonvgc.com for updates.

Was there anything else in the email, and when did you send it/get the response?

come on TPCi, the cat's out of the bag. We know when the first date it(Seattle, May 8th, 2010), just give us the others. The timeframe for last year was much smaller, as viperGTS has pointed out.

Now, if there was some sort of issue with getting a place reserved, I can understand that(after all, you can't just reserve any old place for these things, it has to have the right facilities, etc). We just need some information, as players and supporters, to let us know that things are working out or not. I really wish that the pokemon.com "secret forum" was read only or something, since then Mike Liesik, Dave Schwimmer, Angela Durand, etc, can post and give us occasional updates on what is happening in terms of tournament preparation.

/begin plea

TPCi, since I know you are reading this or will sometime in the future, I know that you get more money from the TCG. I know that the TCG is much bigger and better organized. I know that when people think 'competitive pokemon' they think of these TCG tournaments before video games. Please, pretty please though, don't continue to screw over the video game players. We support you and your company, now please return the favor and at least have some organized and structured tournament for us to play in with decent prizes. Video games is what people see us play out on the streets of our cities and counties, that is what is sold in every major retail store in the country, it's the face of Pokemon. We are the people who play those games. Please, don't keep hiding the dates from us, we have normal lives we need to adjust to try and show our support for you and your events by showing up, and we can't do that if we don't know when they are.

I work a part time job while going to college. In order for me to continue to show support for your tournaments, I need to know when things are in order to work around them. I can't ask for a day off from work if I don't know when the date is. I am not the only one in this scenario, there are plenty of other people in the same boat as me.

The TCG players know their Battle Roads, Regionals, States, etc, months in advance. We(VGC players) apparently will get ours around three weeks before the first qualifier date. While I have made time to make a tournament team, some people don't have that luxury.

/end plea

@ mosquito's point #2 = they would(or at least should) have these events reserved months in advance for both TCG and VGC. I know ultimatedra has said they reserve worlds a year or two in advance, just to make sure they have it. it maybe takes a week or two to determine where the events should be and then go and reserve them.

Hey, I just noticed if you go to pokemonvgc.com, it says the site is being updated, etc. Hopefully it's locations.
Edit: Nevermind.

At least "128" does not come up in search, yet, on the pokemonvgc.com page as I hope they can possibly do away with the unfair lottery system that seems to favor scrubs over veterans.

I hope they do get rid of it, but since nothing has been put online yet, I don't think even the word "Pokemon" would come up on a search for pokemonvgc.com, other than the "Landing page for the Video Game Championship Series."

Though I did find the old site for last year's VGC: http://origin.pokemonvgc.com

I really wish they used the online-quiz mechanic and regional championships again.

So much better from how they're doing it now. @_@

Perhaps they have an excuse; the economy sucks a bit. Although they did it last year and it came out fine.

Maybe they didn't get enough sponsors like Hulk Hogan.

However they did it at JAA was fine. I actually got picked for that. All the other times I was either not picked for some stupid reason or the qualifier was somewhere other than NYC or Long Island or something.

That's pretty bad. It could work just as well to have a first-come, first-serve kind of deal. Although that can be annoying. -sigh- There has gotta be a way to have everyone play.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I am tired of checking Pokemon.com six times a day to see if the locations are announced. What could possibly be taking this long? Talk about awful planning.

I've given up hope of any stops this week. Judging from PBB's email (and assuming he sent it this week), we can only hope to get them next week.

A tidbit of info, don't attempt to go in with illegal egg move comboe, because "If someone wants to be stupid enough to try this at a VGC event, they run the risk of wasting their day." Even if its just a Belly Jet Azu made with Ditto glitch parents.

I'm not totally familiar with illegal eggmove combo's. O:

Is that having three egg moves bred into a Poke? Or am I totally off. /failbreedingknowledge

here is the info everybody has been waiting for:

The current plan is to release full details mid/late next week. Sometimes announcements have to wait until all of the key details are in place.

How about that for info? I will take my cookies now - chocolate chip plz.

Again, another quote from the big guy himself:
It's amazing the things that my party checker software will flag as illegal. ;)

So, do not try it - unless you want to throw away any chance of winning a trip.

Like Azumarril learns aqua jet as an egg move, and belly drum - but there is no pokemon that can breed with azumarril that learns both. only one, or the other - not both.

Any other questions you want me to answer? (Besides the dates and locations)

Egg moves that are impossible to have at the same time, pretty much. Like belly drum and aqua jet on Marill.

But yeah... it'd be nice if the lottery was expanded or changed. Not being picked to compete is just a gigantic kick in the balls. I'll be prepared to go to Paris or something if I don't win London, though.

Oh yeah ultimatedra a question: I have a shiny Giratina and Groudon both with the same PID. They're completely legit, but I think it could be seen as suspicious. Giratina is from the Sinjoh Ruins and Groudon is from the Embedded Tower and their IVs are 21/31/21/4/25/31. I would be fine with these yeah? And yes I intend to use them on the same team.

I agree. Not being picked to compete sucks, especially for anyone who has been preparing for a good amount of time prior.

Zog: If you know they're legal, then I don't see why you should be afraid of using them. They're not going to kick you out for RNGing.

And gee, I think we kind of get it. there's no need to repeat the stated over and over again...

They don't know that they're legal; that's the only issue. I coud get accused of cheating for them by an event guy and then if I state that I RNGed them I would probably still be accused of cheating and still kicked out if it came to it. I just don't want any possible pitfalls at the tournament.

So VGC's actually have flag-check software? I guess that kinda sucks. lulz For some reason I thought it was just by the eye/word of mouth. Oh well.

Ugh.

So, we're not going to find out the locations until afterlike, April 13th (I'd expect next weekend if I'm honest, though...)

It's quite frustrating. I've got to save money for train tickets and a hotel, and probably miss work to get there. It doesn't help when I'll be finding out the location at best, a month in advance I'd estimate. As I expect the UK National Event to be on May 29th or June 5th. I bet some Americans are even more annoyed, as they'll have as little as three weeks in some cases to organise travel, and possibly a hotel for the night. Though at least, if you're going to Seattle, you know where it is so if you want to risk organising it already, you can.

This.

I'm quite pissed as well especially because the on-site-announcement said that more information would be released on March 26th and now Liesik tries to tell us that they're STILL not finished? -_-

It's the IV spread and nature that determines the PID. If the legendaries have the same nature and same IV spread, they'll all have the same PID.

So do what I'll do - show them your work. I'm really paranoid of EVERYTHING, so what I'm actually doing is bringing my laptop, and a lot of papers. I'll have a lot of evidence to prove to them. I'm bringing a printed out copy of the intro to RNG, as well as Mingot's first post in the PRNG help thread. I'm also bringing the printed out notes from my RNGing, including the date, year, time, delay, etc. for my RNG techniques, as well as how many journal flips/walking/taps I've done. I'll even cross reference the notes with RNG Reporter. If necessary, I'll do a live RNG demonstration of breeding shinys, and as a last resort, I'll find the head judge *cough*Marriland*cough* and complain to him. I know he'll bail me out, if he remembers 511 and Alakalen. Freedom of knowledge is a human right, and you're not allowed to be punished for knowing something.
