5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

In N's Castle, how many steps is it from the PC box to Reshiram or Zekrom? Exact number isn't needed, though it would be good to know if it was like below/above 128; near 256, ect.

EDIT: Seems to be roughly 140-150 direct steps.

And does going into the different rooms of N's Castle advance the frames?

EDIT2: Just managed to RNG Reshiram; entering rooms doesn't appear to advance the frame.

If you are curious, my DS's MAC Addresses are 1254A8(being used currently) and 300416. Seed is 28155E11; frame 120, all IVs 31. Date is 3/11/11, time 03:02:05, delay 2398.

RNGing for Reshiram, and am saved in front of PC with a very good seed.
My question:
Does the frame only advance by 7 when a Pokémon is withdrawn? If I deposit and withdraw a Pokémon, will the whole thing advance it by 7? If I wanted to advance it by 280, I would WITHDRAW 40 times, correct?

I think so ;).

When RNGing for a wild pokemon, how can we make sure that the poke we encounter is the good one ? Is it just down to luck, trial, and error, or is there a trick ?

Luck, unless you go for 100% appearing Pokémon like Frillish on some routes.

Flashcarts are trouble. All I can tell you is that you should use these AR codes to find the VCount and RWTimer:
(please note that these only work for some flashcarts, on a real cart these cause the game to whitescreen)

How to use these codes:
1) Open up the trainer case and then hit Select. (If you hit Select any time before this, your game will freeze.)
2) Look at the Trainer Card. Your VCount will be your money and your RWTimer will be your trainer ID.
3) Convert these values to hex.
4) Restart the game a couple of times, taking note of your VCount and RWTimer values. VCount should stay the same, RWTimer may fluctuate slightly.
NOTE: xElite has reported that VCount fluctuates on his Acekard 2i, but only when he hard-resets. Soft-resetting gets him similar results every time, however if you are holding down a button at the moment the seed is generated the seed will change!
5) Go through the DS Parameters process, and enter the following for your search ranges:

Seconds: Max seconds should be your starting time +10.
VCount: should be the value the code tells you, in hex
RWTimer: min and max values should be the min and max values you got from the code, -/+ 15
GxStat: 0 to 10
VFrame: 0 to 10

If it doesn't find you your parameters the first time, keep widening the search range.

Does anyone knows if those codes work for Pokemon Black/White (E) or (U)?

What are good general parameters to search for C-Gear seeds?
Delay needs to be at least 1500 or so (or else you won't have enough time to get into the game and start the C-Gear), and I'd recommend no more than about 100 frames (or else it gets too easy to lose count).

so if i have a target frame of 5,and you start on frame 3,so i just need to walk 128 steps, with 2 pokes in my party, and sweet scent and ill be on frame 5 right

a found a seed on frame 53

Target - Initial *128 steps = advancements
53 - 3 *128 steps with 5 pokemon = 6400 steps

Is this correct?

EDIT: I'm trying to capture a frillish, how would sweet scent come into play in this?

I think you miscalculated your steps.

Anyway, I've been trying to catch a flawless 'mon in Fukiyose cave for 2 hours now using non C-Gear. I learned few things in the process, and I'm clearly able to do it now... only in theory. Because despite the fact that I do everything correctly, the pokemon I catch is never the good one.

I checked everything: MAC Adress, time, frame, steps,... I use sweet scent, catch, verify the IVs, but nothing good.
The only thing I can think of is my parameters being wrong. I use a basic DS with a Jap White cartridge. Would it be better if I used a DS Lite ?

I've been having the same problem. I understand the theory perfectly well, but can't quite manage to pull it off.

Hello everyone~

Sorry for the noobish question, but is there any known way to affect the Trainer ID you're assigned at the start of Black/White using the RNG? I vaguely remember research being conducted in DPPt back when I used to RNG here but I don't see anything about it in the first posts of any of the RNG threads anymore. Just wondering how that turned out.

Thanks C:

Yes it's possible but questions about it are discouraged for the time being. The program is still being worked out but it will be possible eventually.

Ah. Was wondering cause the MTIVRNG Seed Check code wasn't working. What does that mean?

The value given by the MTIVRNG Seed Check isn't your seed, but it's related to your seed. The RNG Reporter can correctly predict the value that will be given when you hit your seed if you enter it into "Seed to Time" and generate the adjacent results. Unfortunately you can't search through them by "C-Gear Seed Displayed," so it may be beneficial to output them to .csv so you have the benefit of control + f.

And be sure to convert the values you get from the code to hex before you stack them together.

How would I effectively calibrate in White Version?

Here is how I'm set up:

-Saved in front of Kyurem with 5 pokes in my party.

Is calbration the same here? By that I mean, starting the DS time as soon as a fresh minute appears and go through the intro as fast as possible, then soft reset at the next minute and skip the intro till I'm in the overworld. Do I still apply the results on the seed finder? If so do I choose the custom tab in the IVs tab to find out 5th gen seeds?

It's best not to limit yourself to trying to always hit a single calibrated delay like that. You're better off using a timing programme/stopwatch and then going after any delay you like.

I know that it's just that I read it's near impossible to RNG in 5th with no prior calibration. I just want a rough idea is all.
