Hoping to see the Patriots and Packers both win in snow games this weekend :) Although obviously no moment will surpass Vinatieri in the snow versus Oakland for Patriots snow drama

Before I make my predictions I will qualify them with this statement: This is what will have to happen if the team I pick is to win.

Both games are Week 2 rematches, and both underdogs (Giants and Chargers) look totally different form their Week 2 counterparts, so referencing to those games just seems foolish. The Giants learned defense and the Chargers have started utilizing LT to the extent of what he was being used last year.

Giants vs Packers
Snow, wind, cold. They will cause the passing game to be short slants, hooks, etc and this plays into the Packer DB's hands, 2 of the best in the league. It will be on the 3rd Giants WR to make the big plays, Steve Smith proved he could handle it and if he can do it again the Packers will be hard pressed to stop him. Both teams have a running game but the Giants have more backs that can take it, so far only Ryan Grant proved he could do much of anything with the ball. The intangible here is Favre, if he gets going and has protection he will be lights out and cause some major problems for the Giants, but if the Giants can get a pass rush going they can rattle even the best. I liken these Giants to the 05 Steelers, they generate a great pass rush and have a great running game, on top of winning all their games on the road.

Giants win 21-17

Chargers vs Patriots
The Charger WRs are stepping their game WAY up since Gates was injured, if they continue to play like that and the Chargers have a healthy LT, they will put up a great fight. The Chargers have one of the best pass rushes and one of the best turnover defenses in the league. If they get a good pass rush and cause Brady to make mistakes and the DBs take advantage, then the Pats are in for a long day.

Chargers win 28-24 on the condition that LT has a great rushing game, otherwise the Pats win

A SD newspaper this morning said the Phillip Rivers has a partially torn ACL, and is doubtful for Sunday. Rivers stated who is confident and should play on sunday. Your thoughts?

I'd rather see Rivers sit. Volek is no slouch, he is actually one of two QBs ever to pass for more than 900 yards over two consecutive games, and also threw for the most yards in his first 10 games than anyone else, ever.

I want what is better for the Chargers, and if that is Volek then so be it. I still think that Rivers is better but if he is not 100% that may not be the case on Sunday. It's sort of like a curveball for NE because there isn't a ton of great film on him.

Ravens sign new head coach

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- John Harbaugh was hired Friday as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, who hope their second choice proves to be a first-rate success.
Harbaugh spent this season as Philadelphia's secondary coach after making a name for himself working with special teams. He has never been a head coach, but has coaching in his genes -- his father, Jack, is former head coach at Western Kentucky and his brother, Jim, is head coach at Stanford and a former quarterback with the Ravens.
The 45-year-old Harbaugh, who received a four-year contract, will be introduced as the third coach in Ravens history at a news conference Saturday. His salary wasn't released, but most first-year NFL head coaches get slightly more than $2 million a season.
Harbaugh arrived at the Ravens training complex around 9:30 a.m. Friday for his second interview with owner Steve Bisciotti, president Dick Cass and general manager Ozzie Newsome. The sides reached an agreement around 5:30 p.m.
Harbaugh then left in a limousine for his home in Philadelphia without talking to the media. Ravens spokesman Kevin Byrne said Harbaugh wanted to first share the news with his wife and parents before expressing his feelings in front of cameras and reporters.
Harbaugh replaces Brian Billick, who was fired on Dec. 31 after a nine-year run. The Ravens were 5-11 this season after going 13-3 in 2006.
The Ravens earlier this week offered the job to Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who spurned Baltimore on Thursday in favor of staying in Dallas. Garrett rejected the Ravens' job offer after receiving a raise from owner Jerry Jones and a promotion to assistant head coach.
Harbaugh, however, wasn't about to say no. During his first interview, on Jan. 8, he couldn't contain his excitement over the prospect of leading the franchise back into the playoffs.
"Up, down, sideways, from the very top, it's a very impressive place to visit," Harbaugh said at the time. "I knew the Ravens had a great organization. Now, I see why. Good people, from Ozzie and Steve to everybody in the organization. It's been challenging, but it has been fun."
Harbaugh coached in the college ranks at Miami University (Ohio), Western Michigan, Pittsburgh, Morehead State and Cincinnati before joining the Eagles in 1998. He was selected the NFL Special Teams Coach of the Year by his peers in 2001.
He shifted to the secondary this season, working under defensive coordinator Jim Johnson.
"I couldn't be happier for John and his entire family," Eagles head coach Andy Reid said. "He has worked very hard to become a head coach in the National Football League. I know how much this means to him. He is very deserving of this opportunity and we will miss him in Philadelphia. John is a good friend, a great coach, and he has played a vital role in the success we have shared here. I wish him all the best in Baltimore."
According to Byrne, as soon as the sides reached an agreement, the first person outside the room to learn of the agreement was former owner Art Modell, who sold majority ownership to Bisciotti in April 2004.
The only other viable candidate for the job was New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who also interviewed earlier this month. Brian's father, veteran NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, was also an option. But he never had any serious talks with Baltimore about the vacancy.
Harbaugh was a finalist for the UCLA job last month and for the Miami Dolphins' opening last year. He takes over a team that has struggled on offense since Billick took over in 1999. Baltimore ranked 22nd in total yardage this season and was 24th with 17.2 points per game. The Ravens also had their problems on defense because of injuries to cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, and end Trevor Pryce.
Harbaugh will have the opportunity to hire his own staff because Bisciotti fired all of Billick's assistants. If defensive coordinator Rex Ryan does not get the head coaching job at Atlanta, there is a chance he could return to Baltimore in the same capacity.

as a big eagles fan, im happy to see harbaugh getting a shot.

but i have to question the ravens here. he is pretty inexperienced, and to get a shot at being a head coach now is borderline ridiculous. the eagles had moved him from special teams to defensive backs this year in hopes that he could start climbing the ladder of coaching (since ST is a dead end). But to go from D-Backs to Head Coach after one year is a bit alarming. I'll be rooting for him. I want it to work out. I just don't think it will.

It always scares me to death when everyone expects a Pats win. I think rivers will be out, though SD keeps the game close. Chargers play 59:57 minutes. NE wins 31-29 with a last second FG. Pats vs. Packers in Super Bowl...

Giants 9-1 on the road this year and 9 straight.

But, in temperature under 34 degrees, Favre is 43-5(or 34-5, I forgot xD)

My Giants will prove to be tough, and I really hope they can pull it out.

Bradshaw + Jacobs + Burress = Great offense.

Osi + Strahan + Pierce + Mitchell = Great defense.

Let's go G-Men!
Held Dallas to 3 2nd half points last week!

I completely agree.

And an internet for this man! *points at post #1064*

I'd preferably have Volek in there, it's no hidden fact that Rivers has the Rex Grossman Factor and is probably not going to be playing at full strength with a partially torn ACL. So much for that.
But Volek was (still is?) a fantastic quarterback, and hopefully he'll be able to utilize the WR corps as well as Rivers has this past season.
Plus let's get a giant LT game tomorrow, PLEASE.

Grant + Jennings + Driver + Favre + Best Tackle combo in NFL= Great Offense

Kampan + Harris + Woodson + KGB + Bigby = Great defense

Lets go Packers!
Held Seattle to 3 points last week in 2nd half.

Ha sorry i couldn't resist. Wish your team the best of luck, and may the best NFC team win. (lol dallas)

Hahaha...held Seattle to 6 points the last...what...56 minutes?

So I have to work at 3...because our part timer can't work.
Yayyyy for missing the Raperiots/Chargers game. I'm so upset.
I'll be home like 15 minutes before the Packers game so it's okay.

I don't think Grant will have that good of a game, trying to run through the Giants front four(arguably the best in the NFL).

I do like what you did though GB.
It should prove to be a good game. As long as Eli continues to play the the first overall draft pick, then the game should be competitive.

Billy Volek is one of the best backups in the league, and it is not as if Rivers has played super well this year. It is obviously a downgrade, but not a disaster!

It'll be nothing short of a miracle if the Chargers win tomorrow. I will hope for the best!

Giants Packers. Well, i can't believe it but my giants have made it this far. I know that the giants are the underdogs but i'll give you a few reason why they should win.

The Packers' worst catargory as a team is rush defense. This is going to be key to the giants win. I know i wouldn't want to tackle at 265 pound running back in below zero weather.

Everyone is talking about the cold, but the packers got rocked in their coldest game this year. The bears beat them 7-35. The packers have been playing better in warm weather all year long. So....Cold Smhold.

The giants pass rush. Yeah i know Favre has only been sacked 17 times all season. But Favre doesn't have to get sacked, only has to get pressure. And its not like Favre is perfect with the football. He does make stupid mistakes. He does have the record for most interceptions ever.

Giants 21-17

I would take about the chargers vs Pats. But the chargers don't stand a chance against the pats with their starters player i doubt volek is going to help their chances. But i could always be wrong.

38-14

Watching NFL countdown:

Rivers expects to play, LT will play, Antonio Gates in a game-time decision.

I must say, I guess the Pats could be considered the underdogs in this game, though. I mean, over the last 2 months the Chargers have a better record than the Patriots.

Sure, stat-wise the Packers have been soft agaisnt the run as of late, despite holding Shaun Alexander so under what 60 yards? idk exactly. Don't get me wrong i know that along with FS are our defense weaknesses. But besides that, there isn't a defense in the NFL that plays better than the Packers. Osi\Strhan will not have big days infact i would be surprised to see a sack at all by a G-men defensive end. The real advantage for the g-men, and maybe the only is Darren Colledge vs Jason Tuck. Darren Colledge is the worst starter on our team, close to Nick Collins. In Practice he forgot to run block and instead decided to pass block lol. Im really scared about that, it was easy for our line last week in the muck and with an undersized seattle FAST line.

Ok you talk about the cold and chill agaisnt the Bears and how horrible we played. But my question for you is....did you actually watch this game or is it just some NY media trash? There were 50 MPH winds. That's pretty darn rough, especially for the Packers who of course like to pass.

You make the point that Favre has the most interceptions record. Might i remind you he also has the most Touchdowns, yards, and wins. Im sure you remeber the Wins record as he got it when they rolled the Giants in week 2. There are probably more of them including the fact he is 43-5 when the temp is below 34 degrees at lambeau. Also i heard that Eli has only played 1 game under 30 degrees lol.

Brett hasn't thrown a pic in awhile but i know he will in this game probably once. Your defensive coord. (forgot his name) coached with Jim johnson for 9 years and Jim johnson is ridiulous. Im gonna go out on a limb and bet that Besides divsional teams including the Bucs that Favre has the most pics agaisnt a Jim Johson Eagles Zone Blitz Defense. On one side of the ball its gonna be fantastic- McCarthy vs Your smart dude. On the other side it is gonna be like watching grass grow. Tom Coughlin or who ever calls plays for the g-men needs to get an imagination because they have the worst play calling in the NFL. The same can be said about GB's defensive Coord Bob Sanders. All he calls is Cover 2. Cover 2. Cover 2. And to throw a real curveball lets throw in a Cover 3. It is going to be very booring. He called like 2 blitzes agaisnt the seahawks. I think on 3rd down if he brings some heat the Packers will be much more succesful if that is even possible.

Cold smchold, exactly right. The Packers scored touchdowns on 6 straight possesions in the cold and snow and muck last week, hopefully again this week. Have the pats done that?

Aaron Rodgers would like a say in the best backup QB in the NFL debate.

But hey, better than the Giants or Packers then the cowboys right? At least GB\NY can put up a fight agaisnt NE. Wish NY fans best of luck.

EDIT: Also forgot to say that no other QB in the NFL gets rid of the ball quicker than Brett Favre. That line can't get to Favre if he only takes 5 steps back and then throws a lazer. Atari Bigby also has dreadlocks.

Seriously, when making predictions, do not 'talk yourself into a team winning' or pick a team just because you want to see the other team lose. Picking based on instincts and guts is one thing, but all the ridiculous amounts of people picking the Chargers made no sense. Did they play competitively with the Patriots? Yes! But I saw more people picking them than the Patriots straight which is nonsensical.
