Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

@amc :

1-Right click on the frame in RNGReporter -> calculate encounter slots -> check in chart

2-Yes, having dittos with good ivs will help you to breed flawless ived pokes

3-I only do my stuff in HG/SS, but I would use journal flips if I were you, because steps have been proven to provide inconsistent avancements from what I've read

Okay, thanks. I'll try it all out later.

Now the fact that journal flips are best to use probably, I've got another question lol.

When you first start the game, the journal appears. Will this affect the RNG if it has one of the notes that advance the RNG? And if you have multiple journal pages with the kinds of notes that make the RNG advance (ie page 10 and page 9 both have a "Defeated Bidoof", etc. type message displayed) and you flip between those two pages consecutively (like page 9 and 10), will the RNG advance by the respective number both flips?

How do you RNG fossils in D/P?

The same way you RNG any Method 1 pokemon.

find your wanted seed.
Give desired pokemon's fossil to researcher and then save game.
Then just a matter of hitting your correct seed and frame remember collecting the fossil increases frame by 1 so allow for that and also there are no NPC's in D/P to worry about.

Oh I give it to him THEN save? Can anyone confirm this is correct?

I will soon be trying to catch the legendary birds in my platinum game but must kill them first to respawn them and stuff. I have never tried going for a method 1 pokemon, and even less three at the same time.

The guide says that one bird appears at frame 1, the other at 6 and the third at frame 11 . My question is: this frame refers to what? the save frame before talking to Oak (I'm assuming that the whole RNG abuse must be done before talking to Oak) or the frame you will find them in a patch of grass(if this even makes sense)? Using the files given in the guide for seeds, will these IVs be for the first bird I catch or for all of them? Or how exactly is it determined? Does the coin flip trick work here? If so, should be done when? Before or after talking to Oak?

What's the best way around catching these birds?

If anyone could help me catch these birds, I would really appreciate and be willing to catch it in the nature and IV spread of your choice (to give you a copy of course).

Still looking for this, help would be greatly appreciated.

The frames 1, 6, 11 refer to the bird's monster frames, the frames that they would be released on if you didn't do any prior RNG advancements, so when calculating the number of advancements you will have to take the individual bird's monster frame into account. You should only RNG one bird at a time since they are all method 1 in platinum and the chances of you finding to good spreads on the same method 1 seed on the correct frame is slim to none. You do everything before talking to oak, all your advancements before (and yes you can use the journal here), check your seed before talking to oak as well and yes you can use the coin flip trick. Once the birds are released their IVs/nature/shininess is set and will not change as long as they roam around, should you happen to faint them so you can regenerate them later they will be re-released with a different set of IVs/nature.

When you talk to Oak, the three birds will appear on 3 frames, 1 on frame 1, 1 on frame 6 and 1 on frame 11.

When you try to rng a bird, you can rng only one at the time when you release them by talking to oak. When you successful capture a rng bird, [I think you beat the E4 again then talk to oak but the frames for the bird will be 1 and 6. If you repeat the process and beat the e4 again and talk to oak, then the bird should be on the last frame.] not sure about that part, may be confusing plt with hgss

Well, I've been trying to RNG for my ID/SID but everytime I calibrate it gives me different results. I mean, I don't know about the delay but I do know, for sure, which seconds value I hit and it never matches the results in Wild Eep's ID Finder. Has anyone got any advice on this?

What are you trying to capture\hatch? Hoppip, but I guess this is irrelevant to this query.

What is your target seed and frame? 9809068e, frame 212, but, again, this has happened on other seeds.

What is the delay of that seed? 1668. Emerald is in Slot 2 for this even delay.

How did you verify your seed?/If you tried and failed, what results did you get? I see which route Entei is on, in this case, 42. I then call Elm. Results are; K E P E E K K E K K. The results listed on RNG Reporter are (P) P P P E E E K E P E. The results have been incorrect on other seeds however.

I have recently beat the elite 4 again, and as a result re-released Entei and Latias. I then RNG'd an Abra using both of these as pointers to my seed, I then knocked out Latias, and have began to RNG with just Entei. It seems that since this, I have been getting erroneous results, i.e, the route Entei is on is not matching the phone-call messages I am getting from Elm.

I have double checked the method, my time, date, location as well as my calibrated delay and the figures I am putting in Pikatimer.

EDIT: There are also no NPCs on the route, I am saved on the route and do not walk/move etc when I ring Elm.

Any ideas?

hey there,
I have recently tried to get a shiny pokemon from an egg using the RNG abuse guide provided on the main site.

I failed, but since it is costing quite some effort just to prepare for 1 shiny hatch, I wanted to know if it will be worth my time to keep trying, since I do not have access to any speed-enhancing codes on my original cartridge, and I have no idea whether I'm on the right track.

the things I'm not sure about in the process are the following:
-I used the "chain to SID" method to derive my SID, but 1 of the shinies I used for this I caught a long time ago and is EV trained, and while I do know the different amounts, I'm not 100% sure on which stats they are alotted
-the # of times I tap the happiness checker (in the failed attempt I had to tap it 750 times)
-the things I can check that might indicate I am actually on the right track
-the practicality of the whole process once I can confirm that it works for me on the cartridge I have (e.g.: do I have to repeat the process a lot if I want to find suitable IVs/natures?)

sorry it's such a long post, I have a hard time getting to the core of the problem in more things :nerd:

If you double tap the Happiness Checker, but the Pokémon Don't/does'nt hop, does it count as a double tap? I assume no, but I wanted to double check.

You could request a SID check on the simple requests thread. I used to hatch shinies without an AR, so I know it's very possible and doable and worth trying. You can use a seed to get an exact nature, ability and gender. There's a link to the method in the first post of this help thread. If you use the seed method then you can verify you're on the right track with coin flips. RNG reporter has a tab for shiny eggs in the Time Finder function.

requesting SID check on the following:

shinx f/50-50 gentle ability 1
10/28/0/29/1/14
shinx m/50-50 relaxed ability 1
17/3/3/24/9/25
shinx f/50-50 adamant ability 0
1/21/7/25/3/28
gastrodon m/50-50 timid ability 1
10/5/17/9/15/3

with this information I used the chain to SID function from RNG reporter to find the following SID: 59424 (my normal ID is 02813)

for shinx: ability 1 is intimidate, ability 0 is rivalry (correct me if I'm wrong)

I am not a 100% certain on the IVs for Gastrodon, but I can confirm by using IV reducing berries, but I'd rather not...

if this information is somehow insufficient, please let me know by a reply in this thread and/or a PM, thanks!

Adjunct, it's easier if you get a SID check on a traded poke. It doesn't have to be one of your shinies, just any useless caught pokemon. If you'd like to do that, you can VM me.

I also have a question: For the roaming legendaries on Platinum, when are IVs generated?

Has it been confirmed that certain delays are un-hittable with a specific date/time?
I am going for 627 and I have hit every single delay 10 off on both sides multiple times, but haven't seen 627 a single time.

odd/even delays can be adjusted by either adding a GBA game card in slot or moving the down & up arrow in the menu before pressing continue (at least works in HG/SS)

Thank you Nexus and Darckchaos.

Just one last question: Just finished killing off all of the birds and Cresselia. The pokemon roaming number just counts as zero or should I count it as three when going for the birds for the RNG advancement? I haven't gone again to fullmoon Island for Cresselia.

Not what I ment. I am only getting odd delays. Just not the one I need, had 625 about 10 times now. 629 10 times too. Every single one from 617-639 atleast 3 times, not a single 627 though.
