And that's all it is; it's just a collective inferiority complex that springs up whenever the object of that complex (winning in big situations) comes into play. (at least that's what I think)
The 04 Red Sox played like they had nothing to lose - that's how they came back from 3-0 down.
This year's team has so much more pressure, especially with their fast start, the expectations that come with their payroll and WS win - and the fact that there is that thought in the back of people's minds "will it be ANOTHER 81 years?"
Slightly off-topic - are there certain sports towns that are toxic for players in terms of atmosphere and pressure from fans and media, and is Boston one of them? (along with Philly, New York, Chicago, and others)
