Yeah, the first time I went to a Wal-Mart I laughed out loud. Especially at the stuff like "Artificially Flavored Mini Cereal Vanilla-Flavoured Wafers" or something with a leprechaun on the box. I think the brand name was along the lines of 'Kibbler', but this was the same Wal-Mart trip as when I bought my G/S during a holiday to the US, so it must've been at least 8 years ago now. The cereals particularly had such cheesy names and packaging it really cracked me up. =P
And even more when there were so many outrageously unhealthy snacks for sale. And that's just the food section...
Welcome to America, land of the cheap fatty good and the home of the fat. By the way, the brand name was "Keebler" and they're elves, and not leprechauns.

One day, I'm gonna visit Europe and see how different it is over there.

For all of you NOT from the US of A forget Wal-Mart...if you want to see some crazy ridiculous stuff you should find a Dollar General! I don't know if you have those over...wherever...?! I saw a knock off Wii called something ridiculous like "The Game Zone" or something like that the other day. It only had 4 or so games "built into it" and the "motion conroller" was just a simple wireless controller that looked like a Wii remote XD

I really can't imagine any other supermarkets other than Sainsburys and Tesco in terms of food. I am more interested in visiting somewhere which is more electronic based but well, all the companies that make games had to be arses and put stupid NTSC/PAL system, so you can't play American games in Europe. That kind of ruins my shopping idea since I am not into clothing and whatnot.

Oh and one more interesting place I have in mind is Disneyland but I wonder if a 17 year old would look stupid in between all the 5 year olds and Mickey mouse, Donald Duck, etc lol. Tbh, I dont care, I will still visit, it just sounds fun.

Man it's not just kids. Disneyland is for everyone! And chicks love it.

Anyone guessing at the locations for next year's VGS? Or possible methods to let everybody in? Hopefully locations with at least 1 per state.

I wouldn't mind if it were in my neutral state of Connecticut, close proximity to New York City & Boston.

So long as they do their best to allow any participation and no requirements for an event pokemon then that should be better.

Europe sucks, full of biscuit eating tea drinkers.

What you have to understand is, biscuits and tea in England, which is part of the UK. As a land seperated from Europe by a mass of water, the channel, what you find is us brits don't consider ourselves european, and when we go "on the continent" we say we are going to europe. We dont use their currency (the euro, we use the pound).

The stereotypes your talking about their are British stereotypes, not european ones. And, we are actually full of the greatest musicians and actors in the world (whats americas best show? House? oh look its hugh laurie. Lost? oh, dominic monohan).

I digress, american TV is better than british tv. But musically, other than John Mayer and Jack Johnson, america doesnt have anything (Canada has Andy Mckee mind, hes amazing). But Britain has all the bands that have ever been worth their salt (beatles, jam, kinks, small faces, ocs, oasis, verve, bluetones, cast, la's) and solo artists (ian brown, paul weller, mark morris etc).

I digress further.

ONTOPIC: So, what have you guys been doing mainly in preparation for worlds? teambuilding/breeding, practicing battling or...?

I've been chillin with some hunnies next to my pool in my mansion cause I'm a professional Pokemon player now and we get professional athlete money.

Sorry to nitpick but you kept your generalization to sort of rock/pop which is fine... Britain definitely blows America out of the water in terms of historically important bands in that regard... but whole genres have come from America (Blues, Rap, Funk) that have had just as big of an influence on contemporary popular music as a whole. It's not really as one sided as you present it to be.

Anyway, back on topic, my boy Huy aka Batpig is the dark horse in this tournament but best of luck to everyone. Hopefully someone that knows their shit and is not from Japan actually ends up winning. That would be cool.

Fasho. I'm doin this just for you Carl.

Also read about me, Huy, in your latest Nintendo Power.

EDIT: I'm also about to sign an endorsement deal with the Nike Nintendo division to be the new spokesperson for their line of VGSneakers.

He obviously hacked Gamefreak's mainframe and their bank accounts and leeched millions from a work over the past 10 years.

ON TOPIC: So what exactly does the Winner's Checklist mean where it says "Update your my-pokemon account?" Because I don't see anything anywhere that says update.. :\

on your my pokemon account (www.op.pokemon-tcg.com/mypokemon) make sure all the information is current.

log into your my pokemon, at the top it will say:
view my profile - edit my profile - logout
view my events - view my orders.

select edit profile, and make sure all the info there is current.

What an incredibly retarded post, this should seriously be put in Trou.

You know you're a music buff when you call John Mayer and Jack Johnson the only noteworthy American artists. Also, noting that the lead actors in two popular American TV shows happen to be British is in no way relevant to anything and is basically like saying those shows couldn't be successful without British influence, since clearly there are no better actors in America than those two.

As if that weren't enough, look at the post you're responding to. Not only do you dignify it with a lengthy response, but you wind up (poorly) comparing England to America (who knows where penpad is actually from) based on each country's history of music and television of all things. Not a good time for a mini-rant.

ONTOPIC (lol): Anyone who wants some to practice against should PM me or add me on AIM if they want some battles.

To be honest, I liked the post because since nationals are over and everybody's hiding in their holes to prepare for Worlds, this thread is doomed to be dead, lol.

I mean, what is there to talk about? Betting who will win the final tournament? Metagame discussions? Team ratings? I suppose there IS nothing really that goes beyond superficial other than hack discussions or what probably went wrong at these tournaments...

For a start... Do you guys think the Japanes will use Trick Room and MOLF party again? Because these days everybody knows MOLF and counters it so I suppose they won't be so stupid to try it again... I've got the slight suspicion that we will see many, many Cresselias from the Japanese, lol

This thread really should be dead(ish). All there is to talk about is the Japanese, I guess. The competitors themselves have no real need to post here, since they know more about VGC than most, not to mention they know each other, so any strategy discussion will probably take place elsewhere. After that there's just random kinds of questions like at the top of this page. I'm guessing it'll die down for a few weeks until the tournament is a week or so away. It's getting kinda painful to read at this point.

I hope to see a rise in the number of Japanese PAIN Dance teams. With the current rise in goodstuffs I think a Japanese rain team will tear it up.

Nah, goodstuffs beats rain. Goodstuffs beats everything pretty much. Rain is actually very underwhelming because if the sweepers don't get an OHKO right off the bad, they'll get OHKOed right back. Plus the setup turn is an ideal opportunity for goodstuffs to hit the rain teams.

I used rain at London, and epically failed both times I faced goodstuffs (yeah I lost twice). Lost in the second round but thankfully to a cheater, then lost in the quarter finals to UltimateUnknown/Sadman. Did quite well on Supremacy though, and in test battles. So in short, rain is a disappointing strategy. I'll be going goodstuffs all the way next year. Not without putting my own spin on it, though. Shoe's worlds team will be somewhat similar to my team I have planned for next year (I designed it mainly for him really), so anyone at San Diego'd better watch out. This is definitely something fresh and new, and I could see it becoming copied in the near future if he does well.

And if he does do well... maybe he'll buy me one of those Rayquaza hats or something. =P
