Base Stats, Move Data, Egg Moves, and Dream World Abilities

This metagame is looking highly offensive and weather based. There are many new stallbreakers and some old ones have gotten improvements (blaziken..). If stall does survive it will have a completely different look. Blissey might finaly fall out of ou. On a completely unrelated note if politoad and ninetails get banned i will have a fit.

Honestly just based on the stats, it looks like it will end up as a suspect before too long, but we will have to see the movepool and everything to find out for sure. The only thing keeping it back would be the speed, but a scarf can patch that up easy, and we haven't even seen the other choice items that might be available, yet.

I'm not really sure what all the hype is for Shandaraa. Yeah its a great pokemon, but lets check out its faults, shall we?

Weaknesses

2x Water
2x Ghost
2x Dark
2x Rock
2x Ground

Five weaknesses, and 3 of those are extremely common types. Off the top of my head, SpD Milotic, Heatran, Suicune, Tyranitar etc can deal with it, and that's just from this gen.

-Stealth Rock weakness
-Average speed (don't even try to argue Choice Scarf - how often do you see Scarf Zapdos? Scarf Mence? Other SR-weak scarfers?)
-Pursuit weakness
-Susceptible to all forms of entry hazards

Why is it that people insist on declaring pokemon "suspect" before we even have the details of the newest gen?

Just remember, it's unlikely you'll be able to use Egg Moves on your Dream World Pokemon, if they're 'caught in the wild only' with these abilities. No Hypnosis Ninetales for you, no Baton Passing Speed Boost Blaziken.. etc

Such a shame about Baton Pass on Blaziken. SD + Speed passing would be quite easy when you can OHKO the bulkiest of phazers (read: Max/Max bold Suicune) with Hi Jump Kick. Guess it'll just have to sweep :P

The biggest issue is he can trap ANY Pokemon (bar Shed Shell or other rarities), and kill them. Pokemon like Skarmory, Forretress, basically anything weak to Fire or Ghost, will die miserably. Even if ScarfTar revenges it with Pursuit, it has still done its job. I agree that it is too early, but this guy is the main threat to look out for when it comes to suspects.

Emboar also gets Reckless from the Dream World, which doubles the power of recoil moves. 240 BP Flare Blitz anyone? 300 BP Head Smash?

Yeah, i'm starting to like it.

There are also a couple new Scrappy users..Hopefully one of them learn Rapid Spin.

It has to be different than the other Fighters..

The Pig= Choice Bander
The Monkey=Sweeper
The Bird=Stall Breaker

While the Monkey is good against stall, Blaziken's higher attack and Special attack make it better at this.Hit and run sort of thing.Just ramdomly fire 120/130 Stabbed attacks, then wait it out to sweep with a +1 speed.

Aiming Mark is essentially Scrappy but it's an item. It will allow Rapid Spin to hit Ghost-types, which means we really don't need to worry about Rapid Spinning issues any longer.

By implementing a Dream World Clause, I didn't mean banning it, I just meant having an option to not use those abilities. And yeah, I realize that Blaziken will probably be OU this gen, but Heracross' being able to continually boost attack while having speed boosted is really good. Definitely not R/S usage, but I can see Hera going back to OU with Earthquake Spiral/Arrogance.

Well Defog is a nifty little move now...ends effects of Stealth Rock, Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Safeguard, and Mist!

It already did that but it blew away entry hazards YOU set up. Unless they changed it to make it so the entry hazards on your side of the field are removed, it's still as useless as it was before.

And at the beginning of DP, everyone talked about banning Rhyperior... >___>
Guys, Drought Ninetails is there so it DOES NOT GET BANNED. We know play a game with 3 weather effects (I think Hail looks too weak right now). And one without Stealth Rock lol.

Does anyone know what move the Fire/Bug Moth learns at level 100? It might be broken, considering the level it is learned, and the fact that the x4 weak to stealth rock might actually be an attempt to balance it. In addition, pokemon near the end of the dex are usually powerful (excluding Luvdisc)

Personally, I see more use of the Ghost/Fire Chandelier as a better Sub Gengar. Come in on something that cannot deal with the Chandelier, sub (if it can get still get sub after the TM loss), and annoy with Pain Split, Shadow Ball, and (Fire Attack)/Will-o-wisp. It would be interesting to try a variation of those moves, which would be widened even further by explosion or destiny bond, if applicable. Shadow Tag is quite amazing, but we should remember that while it was the main reason of Wob's banning, Dugtrio has a similiar ability, but is not (no longer) OU because of the ineffective movepool and stats. Then again, considering the diversity of ghosts and the amazing stats, I won't be surprised to find the chandelier an extremely effective pokemon. At that point, the numerous weaknesses of chandelier are nearly meaningless, considering the fact that it should almost always get a free kill and sub.

Yes, Shadow Tag is a very powerful ability, but the reason Wobbuffet was banned is because it has the perfect movepool to abuse Shadow Tag. Take a hit, Encore, Counter/Mirror Coat, and then maybe Custap Destiny Bond to take out the next victim.

I can't believe no one has mentioned these yet: Chlorophyll Venusaur (and Leafeon) will definitely need a suspect test - good mixed attacker, sleep powder, synthesis etc. Unburden Hitmonlee can now run a Liechi Berry Endure, Reversal, Mach Punch, Bounce or something like that. Unburden Sceptile can do something similar. Guts Flareon can now actually use its physical attack with a Toxic Orb. Unaware (ignores stat boosts of opponent) Quagsire might make a serious impact. Volt Absorb Raikou and Water Absorb Suicune?! OMGWTFBBQ Speed Boost Blaziken.

Basically... OU looks to me like it is going to be a weather fest with new Swift Swimmers and Chlorophyll users. Ultimately I think Sun is going to be the centralizing factor with new automatic set up and the addition of Venusaur and Leafeon as well as Speed Boost Blaziken. Chanderaa can take advantage of the sun as well. Defensive teams will HAVE to use a weather negater or changer (meaning Tyranitar) to survive IMO.

OK. I have lurked forever and I finally created an account for the release. I must know. Do we have any confirmation at all on Encourage's effects? I didn't think it would block negative effects but Hihidaruma and Wargle learn a lot of negative-effect moves and not that many with normal secondary effects. Do we know for sure whether or not it blocks recoil and stat drops? I doubt it does, but there is evidence...

OK, so Glare's accuracy is upped to 90 and Thunder Wave can paralyze Grounds.

On the one hand, Normalize Delcatty just lost the one and only reason anyone with any shred of sanity would even consider using it.

On the other hand, Dunsparce can paralyze Dugtrio 100% of the time and flinchhax its ass to hell and back.

And Arbok gets 90% accurate glare.

And Qwilfish gets the awesome Intimidate.

Looks like some of my favorites are movin' on up!

Now, if only Weezing got Gunk Shot...

It learns "[M552]: Special Fire PP: 10 Power: 80 / Accuracy: 100 Effect: May increase user's Special Attack by 1 stage."

Denchura looks more and more interesting beyond his CompoundEyes and Thunder combo. He also learns a "reverse" Gyro Ball move that does more damage depending on how much faster he is than his opponent.

Combo that with Thunder Wave, Agility, and even another new move that lowers the opponent's speed (Special Electric PP: 15 Power: 55 / Accuracy: 95) and you've got a cool strategy going. :) He learns that all naturally, along with Bug Buzz.
