If I RNGed a Landorus and it says it was captured on May 3rd, 2012, would I be allowed to use it in VGC? I didn't use any external devices to obtain it.

vThanks!

BTW - just thought i should point this out from PokemonVGC.com

Can I use electronic devices other than my Nintendo DS during my match?

With the exception of a Nintendo DS, electronic devices, such as cell phones, MP3 players, or text-messaging devices, are not to be used during a match. In some special instances, an electronic device may be allowed with the advance permission of the event staff.

So, if you ask the staff for permission - you can record your match. Sure, they very well may say no but the option is still there.

my Terrakion from 2013 and Virizion from 2014 both made it through without a problem.

Its the fighting dogs of the FUTURE!!

Anyway... I was wondering if someone was going to throw a video thread together of the events. I remember that there was one last year and was looking forward to the possibility of another one.

Does anyone know where I can get a Jolly/Hasty/Naive Tornadus with a 31 Speed IV and a 20+ Attack IV? I've been working on my VGC team, and it seems like it would work wonders as an alternate for me.

I'm not familiar with "RNG-ing" and I'm wary of looking for someone's clone.

This may be a dumb question, but from what it seems from warstories there are only 3 matches before finalists this year as opposed to the four last year. Is this true?

If you don't want to RNG, and don't want to get one from someone else (depends on whether you have someone you trust, I suppose; since I don't have Black, a friend cloned his Tornadus for me), you can always just keep SRing until you get a good one. But you really should just try to learn RNG, because it's pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it, and it'll make getting the rest of your team to a competitive level a lot easier too.

There were three at San Jose this year. I would imagine that it varies depending on the number of competitors.

I already spammed soft reset to get a Terrakion and a Landorus, but I was under the impression that you couldn't soft reset with roaming Pokémon (outside of their initial "release," I guess) and spent lots of time breeding for the rest of my stuff. It's not that I don't want to RNG (I have plenty of time on my hands)--I just don't really know what that means. I assume it means to manipulate the RNG in a way to get stats you'd like, but, I have no idea how one would go about doing that. I was hoping someone could explain the concept to me. I have White, myself, but I might be able to borrow a friend's copy of Black to grab a Tornadus.

As for not getting a clone, I just need to find someone I trust, I suppose. I'm not completely opposed to it, but, I don't want to grab just anyone's and risk getting disqualified, you know?

The basic concept is exploiting the fact that the RNG itself follows a fixed sequence once initialised, and all the factors that initialise it are things that you can control (time on the DS's clock) or find out (DS's MAC address, internal timings on DS load). There are some guides being worked on at Smogon at the moment; the best place to look is the 5th generation RNG help thread (http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83057), which has links to all the relevant information in the first few posts. (If you use IRC, you can also come to #smogonwifi on synirc to ask people for help in realtime.)

Luckily, 5th gen RNGing is probably the easiest generation to RNG in yet, as you only need to be accurate to the nearest second when controlling the time on the DS (previous generations required higher accuracies), and although there are a lot of steps to follow, none are too complicated. (The process is too long to give in an SQSA answer, though; check the link above!)

Hi, I've RNGed perfect Litwicks and Axews before, but now would like to RNG a Drillbur for my VGC 2011 team. How would I do this? How does the process change for Shaking Spots? Thanks, Ian
btw I'm using Beta 9.81 of RNGreporter.

I dont know much about rng but cant you just use rng while breeding to get perfect ivs?

This is better suited for the RNG Help thread in Wi-fi, but RNGing a wild Excadrill is more difficult than breeding one. From what I understand there is a step counter that decides after so many steps whether or not to create a dust cloud in the cave... and then even at that you have to hope that you don't ruin your target PID! D= I'd go with Werecario's decision to breed your own Drillbur and then you even have the opportunity of adding egg moves for flavor. ;)

Get to lvl 100?

So a few of my Pokemon have been fully EVd by me, so now I want to get them to lvl 100. What's the best way of doing this? Audino training? Or I saw some people left Pokemon in the daycare and ran in the battle subway. Since my Pokemon are fully EVd with that effect their stats? Or is there a better alternative?

For VGC they only need to be leveled to level 50, unless they learn a move you want at a higher level. You can usually do that by Audino farming or the Elite Four.

Yeah, JRank is right. You don't want to do the daycare thing because there is always a chance that an important egg move will be written over.
