I like how the map now shows exactly which Pokemon are roaming. Haha the little Entei head. Notice there is a little "relevant area" green spot in the Ilex Forest. Is it marking the Celebi Shrine or the forest itself?
There are new areas on either side of Olivine. One might be the Miltank farm, but then what would the other one be (TAUROS RANCH LOL)?

The big thing for me is, it shows the route east of New Bark Town, which of course goes to the Elite Four, but it doesn't show the route connecting Indigo Plateau to Mt. Silver. But it doesn't even show Indigo Plateau at all. I take this to mean that you get this Johto map, and then when you can take your "first step into Kanto" it will roll over to the other map. Is this how GSC worked? I can't remember.

Yes, the route to Mt. Silver and Indigo Plateau were in Kanto and once you crossed a certain tile in Johto, the map would change accordingly.

And about the red dots you pointed out, the one to the right of Olivine is the National Park (it's not connected to Olivine, btw), while the one on the left must be the Battle Tower, and the green dot between Azalea and Goldenrod is Ilex Forest. Notice that the map has some green trees drawn together, representing the forest. However, there's also golden trees to the north of Ecruteak and, if you analyze the whole map, you'll notice that EVERY drawing represents a dungeon on the games: There's Ilex, Mt. Mortar. Mt. Silver, the entrances to Dark Cave, etcetera. Why would there be golden trees to the north of Ecruteak on the map if they weren't accessible, then?

From what I've seen of Ecruteak, it has golden trees in the city. I think that must represent the trees in Ecruteak, although I could be wrong though.

Oh, and the phone feature is back...

Gold: *takes daycare egg*
Gold: *gets on bike, rides 6 steps*

Ring!
Camper Alex: So yesterday I ran into a Nidoran but it got away lolz. Drat! Well just thought I'd let you know! Bye!

100 steps later...

Ring!
Camper Liz: My Nidoran is the cutest Pokemon ever. Maybe you should come and visit us. It sure gets lonely on Route 32.. Bye!

less than 5 minutes later..

Ring!
Fisher Henry: I was fishing yesterday and hooked a Gyarados! But whaddya know, it broke my rod!
Yeah, but if you only get certain people's numbers, then you find out things like when Remoraid and Dunsparce are easy to find. And in Crystal there was seome randome guy who gave you a fire stone.

Actually there was one who gave you each of the stones. What I did was delete everyone except for the stone givers. That way whenever I got a call it was likely to be good news.

And yes, going left of New Bark Town changes the map to Kanto.

LOL
I never even thought abt that. Egg hatching is going to suck...

I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I'm struggling to find links to the Ho-Oh and Entei sprites, I saw that Lugia was posted on the previous page but not the other two. I'd really appreciate if someone could post direct links.

You know what these games need? More emphasis on the Johto Pokemon. My biggest complaint with Gold & Silver is that you don't see much of the new Pokemon. Most of the time, you'll play through the game and not even see Pokemon like Skarmory and Gligar. I think if Game Freak can either make these Pokemon easier to obtain and give some of the trainers these Pokemon, I'll warm to the game more.

Stallion: Try PokéBeach :P

Anyway, the Johto map is pretty cool. Why are the Lake of Rage and Goldenrod so big, though? Goldenrod has that mysterious tower, but the Lake?

they want to keep the red gyarados hard to find once you jump into the lake xD

The new Ho-Oh it seems like a BABY Ho-Oh to me (this one is more Fiercy)

Since this game is likely to have move tutors, I am really intreasted in the Pokemon that could potentially get Curse. This could have a huge effect on all the metagames if this happens!

Haha, while it would make flareon more useful, flareblitz is wouldnt change flareon too much.

It especially wouldnt make too much of a difference to the baton passer.

130 Base Attack + 120 Base Attack STAB, it would change Flareon a whole lot, doing more damage than Blaziken's and Infernape Flare Blitz's.

@negator, I'm with you. The DDP sprite are so much better for Ho-oh (and Entei) than the HGSS ones. Lugia, however, looks better in HGSS, imo.

@Theorymon- Could you imagine if Marowak got Curse? Talk about overkill (especially if TR gets their version of the Damp Rock).

For a pokemon like Marowak, I would personally rather pass speed, and maybe a swords dance, rather than possibly having my TR stalled out. On a pokemon like Marowak, it is easy to do so, since Earthquake is walled by flyers or levitators, while Fire Punch is walled by waters, and Stone Edge by grounds or steels. Light Screen + Curse + ES Dragonite would be fun though.

Whole-heartedly agree! I was shocked when I found out it somehow couldn't learn rock polish! Here's hoping it can in HGSS!!

Plz Event Dragonite with ExtremeSpeed.

Or non Event would be better. :D Level-up or Tutor move 4tw!! Could you IMAGINE ExtremeSpeed being a Tutor Move? Dear god.
