Secret Santa

"After having done something like this on another forum last year, and preparing for a new one this year, I thought it'd be nice to have a Secret Santa in Smeargle's Studio this year as well. So yeah! WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS THING!"

And with those words, CyzirVisheen began the first Secret Santa to be held within Smeargle's Studio, unknowingly starting an event that would become a yearly tradition for the studio's merry artists. The idea is simple: all participants make an art request from within their deepest desires, and then each request is paired up with a random participant, who's then tasked to fulfill it. When the deadline is up, all the images created for this occasion are shared on the forums for everyone to see the hard work put into them!

Even though Secret Santa is more fun to experience than watch, certain entries have been salvaged from the earlier rounds so that they may keep on giving for years to come, so go ahead and take a look at which wishlists have been fulfilled in the galleries below!

General rules

To keep things tidy and orderly, some rules were established so that everyone involved would know what's expected of both the requests and drawings:

The request should be Pokémon-related.

Crossovers are generally alright, but being a Pokémon fanbase, you'd do well to keep it related to Pokémon. If you absolutely want a crossover, the less obscure, the better.

No insane requests.

Self explanatory. Don't break someone's back by asking for incredibly tedious images, keep things reasonable.

Do not request anything questionable.

Nothing explicitly violent or sexual or otherwise tasteless. Attempt to slide by this rule and you'll most likely be banned from participating!

Both the request and the completed image must be PMed to the host.

It's much easier to keep track of things when everyone follows this rule, short messages on IRC or similar can be very tedious.

Do NOT tell anybody what request you got, or what request you sent.

The point of a Secret Santa is anonymity, so the less that's revealed, the more exciting it'll be when the gifts are "unwrapped".

You may change your request at any time, as long as sign-ups are still open.

You don't have to tear your hair out thinking of something, take your time to mull over what you want. However, once the deadline for sign-ups has transpired, you're on your own!

Get your drawing done.

Don't be that guy. Try and have some respect for the person whose request you got, so put your heart into it! Since anyone can participate, we value effort more than quality.
