Foreign metagames

Quite outdated list UsainBolt xd
Now manaphy and wobbo are uber, lati@s are OU without Soul Dew and we are gonna vote garchomp in spain
In our platinum tier list rotom appliances are uber (cause it is a wifi tier list, in SB they are OU)
We usually dont battle with the demi-ubers restriction
Similar rules than in smogon

Seems like they're avoiding centralized metagames by allowing only 2 common threats at a time. I kinda like this idea. It's interesting. Maybe we should try a tournament with rules similar to these.
Maybe we could. Judging by the french metagame, it seems to be an integration of pokemon from all tiers, instead of focusing on a single tier (like us).
In our platinum tier list rotom appliances are uber
That's really odd though, since I never find rotom appliances that hard to deal with.

I'm guessing it's only uber since Platinum isn't available in Europe yet, so you can't get a legit Rotom-A for wifi play.

its amazing how even different communities have relatively different tier lists. Take a look at this one I found on Neoseeker:
Ubers

Pokémon that are seen as too powerful for standard play. This could be due to massive stat total, insane movepool, or power to overcentralize the metagame if they were to remain in OU (often, all 3 of these reasons apply).

Arceus
Darkrai
Deoxys
Deoxys-A
Deoxys-D
Giratina
Groudon
Ho-oh
Kyogre
Latias
Latios
Lugia
Manaphy
Mew
Mewtwo
Palkia
Rayquaza
Wobbuffet

what's so weird about that? they look like ours before garchomp was uber and DX-S's real potential was discovered

I currently live in Korea. I'm almost certain they would follow the Japanese metagame very closely. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I'd be able to find anyone who battles competitively to explain it to me. If I do happen across someone I'll be sure to let post what I find out.

I'd love to watch them play a competitive match though.

I believe the Koreans had a same metagame as the japanese? Basically, the metagame was the same as Japan the last time I went there. It might have changed a bit though.

Most english sites know that the Smogon tier list is the most followed and so the majority of English sites will copy our tier list (with the exception of some suspects eg. latias garchomp DX-S).

Would be nice to see some sets from the asain-metagame as from their ban lists and clauses being so different maybe they found some sets we missed or didn't use to its fullest potential.

Maybe we have something to learn from how the Japanese use Cresselia. Here is a translated page (not very well) of the Japanese competitive wiki.

Edit: Eric the Espeon-I use Cresselia specifically because it is uber in Japan.

I've been looking around a bit. I haven't really learnt about the metagame, but the site layout and contents are interesting. For example:
Comparison of similar Pokémon (e.g. on the Cresselia page, you have comparisons with the pixies, Suicune, Lugia, Deoxys-D and Giratina).
Stats at certain levels (so you can tell if it has any 31 IVs easily).
Breeding chains.
Also, I love some of the set names. For example, CounterCoat Gastrodon is called 'Wobbuffet-like' :P

Anyway, they do seem to have Little Cup, as well as analyses for all the LC mons. I'm browsing the translated site now.

Also, it would be cool if we all suggested better translations for Pokémon, move and item names to Google Translate; it might eventually help us to understand it :P

EDIT: I don't know whether this has been posted, but this appears to be a list of teams used in a 2007 tourney. It's a bit outdated, but still...

Can you post the link to the site with LC analysis please?

And is it the same as our LC, Lv. 5 and only first stages with an evolution, or something different?

Do foreign metagames (or more specifically Asian, due to the different style) use an Evasion Clause? I assume that they do, but I don't know for certain.

Why would you have a Flame Orb on a Cresselia and not definitely have Psycho Shift? (It's listed only as an option)

The Expert Belt set is almost as strange. Moonlight is understandable if you're not using Sleep Talk, and maybe even Psychic for STAB. Also, why is Timid recommended for a Pokemon that would need all the Special Attack it could get for that kind of set (unless you get a few lucky Charge Beams or something)

0_o That's... a lot of differences, to say the least...

@Jibaku: I believe the other hidden power is HP Fighting.

@adman2

Maybe as a Status-Absorber - i would run Rest over Moonlight, because 8 PP Moonlight is not much.

I wonder how would the STalked Psycho Shifted sleep work? Would it last a set amount left from Rest sleep or work as a normal sleep that just started? Those sets look strange and they add every usable choose, but it sure works in their metagame.

Set 7:
Name: Future Sight Calm Minder
Cress @ Lefties / Chesto
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def (or SA if Modest)/ 6 Speed
Bold / Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Safeguard

That set would work far better on Jirachi. Calm Mind+Doom Desire is an interesting prospect. The only problem is Blissey. On the other hand, Blissey seems like she's just asking to get set up on, and +6 Flash Cannon/Psychic should be able to do damage, especially with a sdef drop.

Some of these cresselia sets are really redundant though, especially the sets 6 and 10 imo.

I'd say yeah, since Ho-Oh seems to have Giga Impact as an option which really shouldnt be one ( right ? )..

ima now lurking for more sets !

There is one thing noone has defined yet: What is a "foreign metagame"?
Anything ouside of smogon?
Anything that (usually) only applies to 1 country?
Anything out side of the US?

tbh, most of the ppl that posted here seem to think like the last one... and considering ours the "us" metagme is kinda insulting to ppl here from other countries (like me, I'm from Portugal).
