The long awaited sequel...

ssmm_logo.png

Welcome everyone, to the sequel to the original Super Smash Mods. Much like its predecessor, Super Smash Mods Melee is a micro-meta created using Pokémon and Items from many different Pet Mods. Each slate people will be able to nominate up to 5 Pokémon from other mods, along with 3 items. Abilities and Moves will be automatically carried over from the winning Pokémon. Here is an example nomination:

Pokemon: Froslass-Gunwoman
Mod of Origin: Breeding Variants V2
Stats: 70 / 100 / 70 / 80 / 70 / 110
Type:

Abilities: Cursed Body (Galvanize)
Aditional Moves: Explosion, Stealth Rock, Thunderbolt, Volt Switch, Wild Charge

Froslass-Gunwoman will then play in this mod exactly the same way it does in Breeding Variants V2, as it will carry over all changes it has received in that mod, along with the new abilities it received and movepool changes created by the mod. If the Pokémon on that mod has gained a new type and new stats, the form carried over to Smash Mods will also have the altered stats and type.

Rules:
- The new abilities and moves can only be used by other Pokémon from the same mod of origin. An ability created on Regional Evolutions will only work on mons from Regional Evolutions (+Trace/Transform).

- Pokémon from any mod can use the new items.

- To nominate a mega, one must simply submit the base form of the mega from the desired Mod. Mega stones will only work on Pokémon from their respective mods

- Altered "mechanics" added by the mods cannot be carried over (For an example, Smash Mods will have regular Hail effects even if mods tend to usually buff that. The effect simply cannot be carried over). Pokémon with entirely new types (Such as Light, Blood, Food and the like) cannot be added to the mod. The type chart is also unchanged. If a mechanic is entirely new, however, it is not an issue.

- You can submit a species even if the same Pokémon has been added from another mod, as long as they have different origin mods (You can submit Mega Butterfree from Megas For All even if a Megamax Mega Butterfree has been added onto the meta).

- OU based meta with OU clauses. Please keep the power level in mind when making submissions.

- To prevent a mod for being over-represented, each mod can only have up to 5 mons from their meta added into Smash.

- Abilities that were reworked on mods will function as they do on the mod. For an example, a pokémon from Sylvemons with Torrent would have "Torrent (Sylvemons)" as its ability. The same goes for moves.

- If a Pokémon comes from a Regional Dex Mod, it won't have access to the moves that were removed in Gen 8. Only Pokémon that come from a National Dex mod will be able to keep those moves.

- 6 votes with max 2 self votes for Pokemon, 4 votes with max 2 self for Items.

Pokémon: Tenshi Hinanawi
Mod of Origin: Crossover Chaos
Type: Ground/Rock
Ability: Scarlet Temperament- Negates any benefits the opponent gains from weather and any harmful effects the weather would have on Tenshi's team. Tenshi also gains increased stats depending on the weather:
Sun/Desolate Land- Attack X1.5
Rain/Primordial Sea- Special Defense X1.5
Sand- Defense X1.5
Hail- Speed X1.5
Delta Stream- 2x All Stats.
Scarlet Temperament cannot be copied, disabled or removed. In the event that two instances of Scarlet Temperament would clash, neither party gains any sort of benefit or drawback from the weather.
Moves: Sword of Hisou, Earthquake, Slash, Night Slash, Stone Edge, Fury Cutter, Iron Defense, Protect, Swords Dance, All Weather moves.
Signature Move: Sword of Hisou- Ground-type, Physical, 90 BP, 100 Accuracy, 10 PP. Can damage Flying-type foes and foes with Levitate. Fails unless used by Tenshi. If there is a weather active, Sword of Hisou's power doubles and will deal typed damage between Ground and the Weather's type depending on which would do more damage:
Sun/Desolate Land- Fire
Rain/Primordial Sea- Water
Sand- Steel
Hail- Ice
Delta Stream- Flying.
Tectonic Rage is 180 BP coming from Sword of Hisou.
Signature Z-Move: Scarlet Weather Rapture- Ground-type, Special, 220 BP. Upgrades from Tenshi's Sword of Hisou with Tenshium Z. Can damage Flying-type foes and foes with Levitate. If there is a weather active, it is dispelled and Scarlet Weather Rapture's power is increased by 50%. If Scarlet Weather Rapture is boosted this way, it deals typed damage based on the weather dispelled, which are the same as Sword of Hisou. Can remove Primordial Sea, Desolate Land and Delta Stream. Typed damage is the same as Sword of Hisou's. Does damage based on Tenshi's Attack.
Stats: 120 HP/110 Atk/120 Def/50 SpA/100 SpD/60 Spd

The queen of weather abuse. She's decent if a bit limited in movepool outside of weather, but in weather, she becomes nightmarish to face, meaning she's not only any weather team's best friend, but also their worst nightmare, depending on which end of the Sword of Hisou the weather team is.

Pokémon: Yu Narukami
Mod of Origin: Crossover Chaos
Type: Electric (Base)
Electric/Normal (Ultimate Awakening)
Ability: Justified/Mold Breaker/Persona Change (HA)/Truth Seeker (Ultimate Awakening)
Signature Abilities:
Persona Change- When the user uses a move, the user's secondary typing changes to that of the move being used (If the user doesn't have a secondary typing, they gain one, and if the move being used is the same as the user's primary type, they lose their secondary typing).
Truth Seeker- User's moves ignore type-based immunities and the effects of abilities. Damage taken from Fighting-type moves is halved. User's attacks are special or physical depending on the higher attack stat. Immediately dispels Illusions.
Notable moves: Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Aeroblast, Psychic, Psyshock, Dark Pulse, Swords Dance, Night Slash, Slash, Close Combat, Poison Jab, U-Turn, X-Scissor, Calm Mind, Judgment (there's a reason for this), Zing Zap, Counter, Mirror Coat, Reflect and Light Screen.
G-Max Move, Z-Move, Mega Evolution, etc.: Undergoes Ultimate Awakening (Essentially an Ultra Burst) with IzanaginoOkamiumZ while knowing the move Judgment. His own appearance does not change, but his Ultimate Persona, Izanagi-no-Okami, manifests behind him:

Signature Z-Move: Myriad Truths- Normal-Type, Base 75 Power, Special. Hits 3 times. Always does neutral damage. Upgrades from Yu's Judgment with IzanaginoOkamium Z after undergoing Ultimate Awakening.

Stats: Base- 100 HP/90 Atk/90 Def/90 SpA/90 SpD/90 Spe (BST: 550)
Ultimate Awakening - 100 HP/120 Atk/100 Def/120 SpA/100 SpD/110 Spe (BST: 650)

A potent all-rounder with exceptional versatility in his coverage options, though he can also forego this for raw power when he brings out Izanagi-no-Okami. Izanagi-No-Okami is designed for Ubers play.

Pokémon: Jeanne D'Arc
Mod of Origin: Crossover Chaos EX
Type: Steel
Ability: Frisk/Sturdy/Maiden of Orleans (HA)
Signature Ability: Maiden of Orleans- While the user is active, all active allies take half damage from Ghost- and Dark-type moves, and gain +1 stage in Defense and Special Defense when hit with a move of either of these types. The user's Fire-type moves deal 1.5 times damage.
Notable moves: La Pucelle, Protect, Helping Hand, Slash, Sacred Sword, Smart Strike, Slash,
Signature move: La Pucelle- Fire-type, 5 PP, 100 Accuracy, 300 BP, Special. Fails if used by anybody other than Jeanne D'Arc. Jeanne D'Arc faints after use. Damage is calculated from Jeanne D'Arc's attack. Firium Z turns it into a 200 BP Inferno Overdrive.
Signature Z-Move: Luminosité Eternelle- Fairy-type, Status. Upgrades from Jeanne D'Arc's Protect with JeanneDArcium Z. The user protects all active allies for the turn. Can block Z-Moves and Max Moves. Also heals all active allies for 33% of their max HP and cures all their status ailments.
Stats: 120 HP/90 Atk/100 Def/40 SpA/160 SpD/100 Spe (BST: 610)

A 'mon with very high stats but a very small movepool, though she has two very powerful once per game effects. She's notably better in doubles than singles, though.

Pokémon: Scyscor
Mod of Origin: Fusion Evolution
Stats: 82 / 112 / 112 / 60 / 87 / 110
Type:

Abilities: First Aid - Moves of or below 60 BP get boosted by 1.5x and restore 1/8 max HP to the user.
Aditional Moves: Scyther's movepool + Gliscor's movepool + Humdrum

Type: Bug
Category: Physical
BP: 60
Acc: 100
PP: 24
Effect: 10% chance to lower the target's Defense by 1. Power doubles if the user has no held item. Sound-based.

Scyscor in Fusion Evolution is a forgotten relic of the older times where the power level in the meta was tamer. Since it hardly has any choice to shine in its home meta, bringing it to Smash Melee gives it a new opportunity to shine. Its stats offer for some level of versality, with Fast Offense and Bulky Offense both being viable, and even Set Up Sweeper or a Support mon. This is further aided by its wide move options, allowing for Double Dance, Hazard control, STABS in two of the best moves in the game with U-turn and Earthquake, Knock Off, Roost, as well as lower-powered moves that activate its ability - An offensive set would likely rather run Earthquake but a bulkier set could run Bulldoze to sacrifice 10 BP for Speed control + Healing. Overall it is a pokemon that adds a lot of different set options as well as an unique balanced stat spread.

Pokémon: Beheeyem
Mod of Origin: Sylvemons
Stats: 75 / 75 / 75 / 125 / 95 / 40
Type:

Abilities: Time Warp / Synchronize / Analytic
Aditional moves: Psywave, Meteor Shower, Pragma-Strike, Trick Room, Magic Room, Wonder Room, Inverse Room, Teleport-Sylvemons, Astonish-Sylvemons

Time Warp: As long as this pokemon is active, Trick Room will be active. As soon as this Pokemon is innactive, the room will go away (Think desolate Land/Primordial Sea)

Type: Dark
Category: Physical
BP: 75
Acc: 100

Type: Psychic

Effect: Deals fixed damage equal to the user's level

Beheeyem is here to represent the Trick Room eras of Sylvemons, but it isn't just a shallow pick that is here for thematic reasons. It has a very unique nieche of having "primordial" Trick Room. That, coupled with its naturally low speed, allows it to very likely outspeed most of what's yet to come. This means it does not need to bother with Speed EVs and could instead put those into Bulk. While Beheeyem isn't the fattest mon out there, being allowed to have bulk investments certanly help it with its role of mostly being a Set-Up Sweeper. Nasty Plot + Recover + 2 moves makes for a very strong set that can end up dishing out large ammounts of damage or even sweeping entire teams. Beheeyem however still has its issues, given Sylvemons didn't alter much else of it. You still have fairly limited coverage options, consisting mostly of Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball or Signal Beam, which due to the fact you'll usually run Nasty Plot and Recover, can't all be used at once, meaning you have to make a choice. Shadow Ball covers for Psychic and helps with Steel, but can't hit dark, while Signal Beam hits both Dark and Psychic but is underpowered and walled by Steel, and Thunderbolt hitting the 3 psychic-resiting types neutrally but leaving you entirely useless against a Ground/Dark. This limits Beheeyem's move options so as to make it unable to beat everthing at once. 4MSS also puts on the line the fact you might have to miss out on a 70 BP Pivot move, so Beheeyem overall plays as a very strong Set-Up Sweeper who gets held back by 4SS and poor defensive type with few switch-in opportunities to make itself balanced.

Pokémon: Nihilego
Mod of Origin: Sylvemons
Stats: 109 / 53 / 47 / 127 / 131 / 103
Type:

Abilities: Beast Boost / Dimension Warp
Aditional moves: Meteor Shower, Acid Melt, Inverse Room

Dimension Warp: When user switches in, sets Inverso Room for 5 turns (see effects below)

Type: Psychic
Category: Status
BP: ---
Acc: ---
PP: 8
Effect: Sets up a room that inverts resistances and weaknesses, but not immunities, for 5 turns

Type: Rock
Category: Special
BP: 130
Acc: 100
PP: 8
Effect: User's Special Attack goes down by 2 stages after use

Type: Poison
Category: Special
BP: 70
Acc: 100
PP: 32
Effect: 10% chance to burn the opponent and is super effective against Steel-types.

Type: Psychic
Category: Special
BP: ---
Acc: 100
PP: 24
Effect: Deals fixed damage equal to the user's level

Nihilego is perhaps the most interesting of my subs. One can see this as a simply improved Nihilego, now with a stronger Rock STAB, altho less spammable, as well as Acid Melt to hit Steels, and while that point of view is perfectly understandeable and probably the more viable option, Nihilego also brings something incredibly fun: Dimension Warp. Shifting the type chart upside down mid battle makes for such interesting strategies you can come up with, and is overall a very unique field effect that really brings a whole new feeling to any metagame it is in. And, like I mentioned earlier, if you prefer to just use a more straightforward Beast Boost set, it is still perfectly as viable as ever. Nihilego's odd stats allow it to use either ability pretty well, with Dimension Warp being able to be used as a mere setter for the rest of the team or just as a self-setting abuser of the room to make use of an entirely different "coverage" given by what its moves would usually be resisted by. It would also be the second time a Nihilego got in Smash in slate 1 and I think that's just sorta funny

I don't have an image for this so imagine a weird hybrid of applin and ... that one toohoo fairy associated with the number 9. I think her name is Circus or something.

Pokémon: Fujisei
Mod of Origin: Regional Evolutions
Stats: 70/105/40/105/40/125 [BST 485]
Type:

Abilities: Ripen/Malevolence/Skill Link
Powers up this Pokémon's Dark-type moves by 50%.
Additional moves: All of Appletun's moves except Draco Meteor, plus Dazzling Gleam, Dark Pulse, Moonblast, Bullet Seed, Knock Off, U-Turn, Psychic, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Zen Headbutt, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Drain Punch, Rapid Spin, Nasty Plot, Swords Dance, Bullet Seed, Misty Explosion, Rock Blast, Pin Missile, Bullet Hell, Darkest Lariat, Foul Play, Lash Out, Play Rough, Flash Cannon, Thunderbolt
Type: Fairy
Category: Special
BP: 25
Acc: 100
PP: 48
Effect: It hits from 2 to 5 times when used.
Reasoning: Fujisei, who's name comes from Fuji Apples and the japanese word "Yōsei", is interesting. My idea for Fujisei was to make a sweeper who needed the help of choice items to get a boost in power, however depending on the power level here Fujisei might not even need that. It also has the ability to remove hazards and gains the new, and sorta useless move, of Bullet Hell. The move is moreso something I added for flavor since Special Fujisei don't really have a reason to run skill link.

Pokémon: Orc Eye of Gruumsh
Mod of Origin: CCEX
Stats: 80/130/100/50/80/75[BST 515]
Type:

Ability: Intimidate/Long Reach
Additional moves: Slash, Night Slash, Psycho Cutter, Fury Cutter, Work Up, Sucker Punch, Dual Chop, Fling, Beat Up, Brutal Swing, Hyper Voice, Earthquake, Clangorious Soul, Chatter, Growl, Howl, Bug Buzz, Clanging Scales, literally every other sound move, flash, mystic fire, Swords Dance, Detect, Obstruct, Pursuit, Knock Off, Guidance, Resistance, Command, Bless
Guidance-It's a psychic type decorate clone
Resistance-It's guidance for defense
Command-Psychic|Status|16 Max PP|It's a protect clone, but it also disables the move the user was going to use on the target.
Bless-It's a psychic swords dance clone that effects both the user and its on field allies.

Reasoning: Orc Eye of Gruumsh moreso exists in a similar vain as Kantonian Copperajah, a mon designed with flavor in mind rather than viability. In hind sight I kind of regret subbing it in the first place for CCEX due to the changing nature of how wizards of the coast is approaching, "evil races". Anyway there's still a case for Orc Eye of Gruumsh to be dark type since the power it gains is actually from an evil god, specifically the one eyed wonder that is Gruumsh. It gains a lot of special moves, and it can't use any of them. Despite that it might see some niche on hyper offense teams since it does have a huge attack stat and decent bulk, even if it lacks coverage.

Pokémon: Mr. Volcano
Mod of Origin: Fusion Evolution Alpha
Stats: 60 / 77 / 102 / 120 / 110 / 100 [BST 569]
Type:

Abilities: Volcanicity: The effects of both filter and water absorb
Additional moves: All of Mr.Mime's moves and All of Volcanion's Moves
Reasoning: Mr. Volcano, look at him, just wow what a guy. Here we have a special wall breaker who gets an immunity to one of its weaknesses, and reduced damage from the rest. It also has a surprisingly wide movepool and can burn you three ways till sunday. It was intended to be a wallbreaker in FE Alpha but here who knows the terrors that Mr. Volcano might perform.

Honestly I don't have a good visual for this so uhh just imagine Smeargle is wearing a ditto smock.

Pokémon: Smeargle-Ditto
Mod of Origin: Impersonators
Stats: 66 HP / 23 Atk / 40 Def / 23 SpAtk / 51 SpDef / 87 Speed [BST 288]
Type:

Abilities:
Limber/Imposter
Additional moves: All of Smeargle's moves
Reasoning: You look at this thing and go, wow that's just a slightly better smeargle with two abilities that don't really help it. However due to the way impersonator's work with items Smeargle-Ditto gets access to both metal powder and more importantly quick powder. Also since it get's smeargle's movepool it gets every move. You think you can try to slow it down with paralysis, HA HA THINK AGAIN FOOLS! IT'S A LEAD THAT CAN'T BE BEAT, aside from you know priority and also taunt. Plus this thing isn't prankster proof so uhh you can hinder it that way. Knock off also exists which will cripple it severely since without it's magic speed dust, it gets outsped by a lot of things.

:ss/copperajah:
Pokémon: Kantonian Copperajah
Mod of Origin: Regional Variants
Type:

Abilities: Water Absorb, Sheer Force(HA)
Stats:100/60/100/110/40/90 [BST 500]
Additional Moves: Copprerajah's moveset plus Fairy Wind, Disarming Voice, Dazzling Gleam, Moonlight, Strange Steam, Hyper Voice, Uproar, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Misty Terrain, Mist, Haze, Water Gun, Bubble Beam, Scald, Surf, Hydro Pump, Water Spout, Water Sport, Defog, Muddy Water, and without the removed moves.
Removed Moves:Steel Beam, Iron Head, Iron Defense, Rock Smash, Superpower, Dig, Rollout, Strength, Outrage, Zen Headbutt, Heat Crash
Reasoning: Kantonian-Copperajah is I guess supposed to be a special wallbreaker. I'll be honest when making this I was more focused on the flavor for it since it refers back to Gastly's and Raichu's dex entries where they both mention they can do some serious damage to an indian elephant. That's also why it only has 40 special defense. In a competitive sense it has good physical bulk with 100/100 and with sheer force and its movepool it can certainly do some damage. It can also be used as a pivot against other water types. The issue is that whatever Kantonian Copperajah offers, one of my other subs can do better.

Pokémon: Hatterene & Hatterene-Mega
Mod of Origin: Megamax
Stats: Base: 57 / 90 / 95 / 139 / 103 / 29, Mega: 57 / 110 / 110 / 151 / 153 / 29
Type:

Abilities: Anticipation / Healer / Magic Bounce (HA) / Persistent (M) - When used, Gravity/Heal Block/Safeguard/Tailwind/Room effects last 2 more turns.
Additional Moves: Moonblast, Gravity
One of my favorite Megas in Megamax, opens the door for Trick Room as a viable archetype, being both a great self-sustainable Trick Room sweeper and Suicide Trick Room setter

Pokémon: Esplada
Mod of Origin: Generation X
Stats: 80 / 112 / 69 / 80 / 69 / 120
Type:

Abilities: Overgrow / Swift Swim (HA)

Everyone likes they're fast and powerful physical sweepers and Esplada offers exactly that. 112 Attack, 120 Speed, pretty good STAB, Swords Dance, and even Swift Swim for rain teams.

1604716893871.png

Item: Serenity Brace
Mod of Origin: Sylvemons
Effect: Protects the holder from the secondary effects of opponent’s moves. (Shield Dust effect)
Make your walls and Calm Mind/Curse/Bulk Up sweepers hax proof for the low-low cost of your item slot

Pokémon: Raichu-Alola
Mod of Origin: Z-Revival
Stats: Unchanged
Type:

Abilities: Unchanged
Additional Moves: Pikapocalypse*, Spark Surfer*
Pikapocalypse- Physical, Electric, 150 BP, 90% Acc, 8 Max PP, Contact. Hits Ground types for neutral damage. Lowers users Attack, Special Attack, and Speed by 1 Stage.
Spark Surfer- Special, Electric, 90 BP, 100% Acc, 16 Max PP. Gives the user the effects of Magnet Rise for the turn.

had to self promote. pretty much base Raichu-Alola with a V-Create-like nuke option, as well as a better Thunderbolt for Special Sets. Could be pretty terrifying if an Electric Terrain setter is added. speaking of...

Pokémon: Pyukchin
Mod of Origin: Fusion Evolution
Stats: 61/90/122/70/117/20 (BST: 480)
Type:

Abilities: Thunderhead (Unaware + When this pokemon is attacked, Electric Terrain is summoned)
Additional Moves: Pyukumuku + Pincurchin movepool

a pretty bulky Electric Terrain setter. can also set Spikes and Toxic Spikes, as well as be a standard Unaware wall.

Pokémon: Balar
Mod of Origin: Roulettemons
Stats: 123/132/84/74/111/76 (BST: 600)
Type:

Abilities: Run Away / Aerilate / Magic Guard
Notable Moves: Diamond Storm, Drill Peck, Focus Punch, Precipice Blades, Psycho Cut, Stone Edge, U-Turn, Wood Hammer, Agility, Autotomize, King's Shield, Roar, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes
Less Impactful Moves: Bounce, Brutal Swing, Giga Impact, Gyro Ball, Karate Chop, Rock Tomb, Aeroblast, Bug Buzz, Power Gem, Psycho Boost, Shadow Ball, Vacuum Wave, Disarming Voice, Trump Card, Conversion 2, Decorate, Embargo, Grass Whistle, Life Dew, Play Nice, Power Swap, Psych Up, Role Play, Screech, Soak, Sunny Day, common TMs

probably my favorite Roulettemon. Can hit hard with its dual STABs while also being able to set up Stealth Rocks and/or Toxic Spikes. Its main issue is a lack of recovery besides Life Dew, but it circumvents this with Magic Guard, which prevents it from getting chipped by Stealth Rocks and Life Orb.

:raichu: Mega Raichu Joins the Fray!

Pokémon: Raichu
Mod of Origin: Megas for All v7
Stats: 60 HP / 95 Attack / 55 Defense / 90 Special Attack / 80 Special Defense / 110 Speed (unchanged from canon)
Type:

Abilities: Static / Lightning Rod (Hidden)
Additional moves: High Jump Kick

When Raichu is holding the Raichunite, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Raichu with the following stat changes:

1604789294595.png

Mega Raichu art and sprite both by inkbug!

DrPumpkinz explained this better than I could, so--
The surge of energy from Mega Evolution has frayed Raichu's tail, so it can no longer use it to safely discharge excess electricity into the ground. Instead, it discharges all that extra juice when it makes contact with its opponent, sort of like when you shuffle across a carpet and touch a doorknob, but on steroids. While this shock is extra painful for whoever it touches, Raichu's limbs were not designed to discharge electricity in such a high volume, so it's painful for Raichu as well.

EDIT: I should note that it doesn't need to be an opponent, as this happens outside of Raichu's control whenever it touches anything conductive. Please do not touch your Raichu when it is mega evolved; you will likely die.

Since Alolan Raichu is Psychic-type, I wanted to make Mega Raichu the inverse. When making its stats, I compared it to Mega Lopunny. It's a bit slower, but thanks to Reckless, it's also a bit stronger:

252 Atk Lopunny-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 582-686 (82.7 - 97.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Reckless Raichu-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 656-774 (93.3 - 110%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

It's also of course got Volt Tackle for another Reckless-boosted STAB. I don't usually like giving new moves to megas (I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to these, and I think it's more fun to come up with something interesting with the tools a Pokemon already has) so I considered just leaving Mega Raichu with Submission, but I just couldn't let those
T H I C C
M E A T Y
T H I G H S
go without a kicking move to use them with.
Mega Raichu has long been one of the most popular Mega Evolutions in M4Av6 and v7, with its unique type combination giving it a niche in targeting and its Reckless-boosted dual STABs of Volt Tackle and High Jump Kick granting it a distinctive high-risk, high-reward playing style. It's pretty flexible in its other move options - Volt Switch is incredibly valuable for pivoting, and it can also run a mixed set with Hidden Power Ice for super effective coverage on almost every existing Pokémon that resists its STABs or Extreme Speed or Knock Off for the offensive utility they offer.
Electric/Fighting is a cool STAB combination because it covers a ton of the most prominent defensive threats - and while you might assume that that's specific to the National Dex meta and may not carry over to Melee as a micrometa, I think it's a niche applicable to any meta! Since Water and Steel are two of the types with the most inherent defensive value, any defensively-inclined Pokémon we get with those types are more likely than others to rise to the top, and being able to counter them both at once with super effective STABs is a cool niche for any offensive Pokémon.

Outside of its competitive role, Raichu has been pivotal to the development of M4Av7 in another way: it has perhaps the most popular and iconic design in M4Av7! It's gone through iterations from all three of our main artists - Ausma, inkbug and me, with inkbug being responsible for this final take and the art and sprite you see in this post - and it's widely beloved for its adorable roundness, punchy attitude and h a u n c h
As a representation of the mod, we were happy to put it forward as the best example of our cooperation and how excited we are to be working on the project creatively in addition to filling the meta with unique and highly interactive Pokémon!

---

Since someone will know that you're running Mega Garbodor, it's definitely not really optimal to rely on someone else setting hazards, but… since it Stockpiles rather than just raising defenses, you could hypothetically Swallow or Spit Up the hazards you just picked up. Once again, its definitely a bad idea to run that, but the mental image of Garbodor picking up some spikes off the ground and just eating them is so… good… i cant stop thinking about it, i love garbodor more than i can put into words,

:garbodor: Mega Garbodor is At Your Disposal

Pokémon: Garbodor
Mod of Origin: Megas for All v7
Stats: 80 HP / 95 Attack / 82 Defense / 60 Special Attack / 82 Special Defense / 75 Speed (unchanged from canon)
Type:

Abilities: Stench / Weak Armor / Aftermath (Hidden)
Additional moves: None

When Garbodor is holding the Garbodorite, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Garbodor with the following changes:

1604789941265.png

Trash Compactor: This Pokémon is immune to all entry hazards. If it lands on any type of entry hazard, it clears the hazard and Stockpiles 1.

Mega Garbodor's access to Trash Compactor makes it the undisputed best hazard control in M4A, clearing hazards with ease and punishing them by becoming an impressive wall if it ever activates (incidentally boosting its Body Press as well, as its creator inkbug noted!). Just having Garbodor on your team enables a lot of Pokémon to go without Boots as well, which is amazing team support even if it doesn't need to enter battle.
Adding to its team support angle, it has access to Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock to provide hazards for its own team and can also run Knock Off for its utility - between those, its access to the strongest Poison STAB, Body Press and Pain Split, there are plenty of ways to use it and tailor it to your team's needs.

In terms of its impact on the mod, Mega Garbodor was one of the most-used right away, and with good reason!
Trash Compactor is a strong example of what many of M4A's custom Abilities aspire to be - it makes the most of Garbodor's unique character as a Pokémon and neatly combines it with its existing niche as a hazard setter, turning it into something truly formidable because of its concept and design as a Pokémon and the way inkbug chose to capitalize on that through its existing competitive role. While it's obviously a strong effect, it's also totally unique and barely comparable to any other Ability in what it offers to a team - not just another Ability but better actually, did you know there are absolutely no official Abilities that have specific interactions with entry hazards? - and that effect is entirely specific to Garbodor and feels incredibly natural to attach to this more than anything else. It really feels like a love letter to the Pokémon above all, and it lets this Mega Evolution carve a prominent place in the meta by being Garbodor.
That aside, it's obvious how much support Mega Garbodor provides to a team, and M4A has proven to be its biggest chance to shine - the execution of this Ability is on point and has made Mega Garbodor a staple of our meta, and it would be awesome to see it do just as much in Melee!

For reference, here's a screenshot of how Trash Compactor looks in action:

It also activates when Garbodor Mega Evolves if there are any hazards already on the field!

Pokémon: Vanilluxe
Mod of Origin: Megas for All v7
Stats: 71 HP / 95 Attack / 85 Defense / 110 Special Attack / 95 Special Defense / 79 Speed (unchanged from canon)
Type:

Abilities: Ice Body / Snow Warning / Weak Armor (Hidden)
Additional moves: None

When Vanilluxe is holding the Vanillite sorry, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Vanilluxe with the following stat changes:

1604790018187.png

Cold Sweat: On switch-in, this Pokémon summons hail. It changes the weather to rain if any opposing Pokémon has an attack that is super effective on this Pokémon or an OHKO move.

Mega Vanilluxe is probably the silliest one here - it's somewhat (in)famous in our community less for its battle prowess and more for its, uh, personality?
Cold Sweat as an Ability is based on the thought of Vanilluxe getting nervous when it faces an opponent that it knows is a threat; the idea is that this causes its ice to melt, which in turn twists it into a rain setter and actually gives it the upper hand on these opponents.
Mechanically, it absolutely serves its purpose well - the choice to make Mega Vanilluxe set rain was meant to exploit the perfect neutral coverage of Freeze-Dry + Water, with rain-boosted Weather Ball effectively simulates a strong Water STAB without changing Vanilluxe's type, and the Anticipation effect started from serious consideration of the situations when Vanilluxe would need that Water coverage the most.
Cold Sweat is meant to help it out when it needs to guard against a Fire move or to deal offensively with Fire-, Rock- and Steel-types that take more from Water than they do from Ice. It can also take full advantage of two of its base form's Abilities, with Weak Armor giving it a Speed boost before it Mega Evolves and Snow Warning giving it the chance to set an Aurora Veil for itself safely without fear of overwriting its own weather.
In practice, it works pretty well as a weather sweeper, and Cold Sweat lets it turn the tables on a surprising number of matchups that wouldn't normally be in its favor.
But it's also still very much a joke Ability that turns those mechanics into a character, and... oh, boy, did Vanilluxe turn out to have that in spades.

Uuunfortunately, poor Vanilluxe is a lot more anxious than any of us thought, and my earliest attempts to code the Ability were a bit of a disaster!
It uh
activated a lot more than expected:

... And then there was a time when other Pokémon broke into a cold sweat at the sight of it! Truly a terrifying force, this ice cream-esque icicle.

Cold Sweat now works exactly as it should, so no worries about implementing it for Melee! These struggles were in the very early days of coding the mod, haha.
But it was definitely a memorable experience, and the M4A community seemed to enjoy it as well.
In addition to zxg's meme there, we also regularly use this Vanilluxe emote by inkbug - :coldsweat: - on our Discord server:

Vanilluxe was one of the most-requested additions when I asked the M4A server what Pokémon to nominate, so I think it's left a surprisingly big impression on the community as a whole, and I'm super excited to get to put it forward as one of our first representatives!

Pokémon: Orbeetle
Mod of Origin: Clean Slate 2
Stats: 72/52/150/69/164/123 (630)
Type:

Abilities: Swarm/Frisk/Trace
Aditional moves: Overdrive, Thunder Wave, Seismic Toss
Removed moves: Calm Mind, Sticky Web
I think it would be fair to say Brodaha is a genius for creating this. This is one of my favorite custom Pokémon of all time tbh.
With excellent defensive stats and utility movepool, Orbeetle can act as a wall and a defensive pivot. It can also act as an Iron Defense+Body Press sweeper (the most wacky but fun set imo). Don't let its 630 BST scare you, it has unoptimized abilities, vulnerability to Taunt due to poor offenses and weaknesses to common types such as Dark and Ground to make it balanced.

Pokémon: Kikuri
Mod of Origin: Crossover Chaos V2
Type:

Abilities: Serene Grace / Magic Bounce / Levitate
Moves: Physical: Magnet Bomb, Metal Burst
Special: Flash Cannon, Fire Spin, Inferno, Lava Plume, Signal Beam, Mystical Fire, Fire Pledge, Mirror Shot, Mirror Coat, Power Gem, Moonblast, Judgement, Red Tears*
Status: Will-o-Wisp, Iron Defense, Rock Polish, Moonlight
*Red Tears: Special, Poison, 95 BP, 100% accuracy, 15/24 PP, independent 20% chances to lower target's Attack by 1 and to flinch.
Stats: 100/70/110/100/120/70 (570)
The utility of a Steel/Fire Pokemon with Levitate should be self-explanatory. Moreover, a Serene Grace set combines 60% SpA drop from Moonblast, 40% Atk drop and 40% flinch chance from Red Tears, and 60% burn chance from Lava Plume (also guaranteed SpA drop from Mystical Fire but why would you run 2 Fire moves). Finally, Magic Bounce is also a great ability for a defensive Pokemon.

Pokémon: Castor
Mod of Origin: Fusion Evolution
Stats: 79/77/77/107/102/85 (527)
Type:

Abilities: Climate Compile - Normal type changes to match the type of the current weather. The user also traces the effects of the weather for the rest of the battle, including the latest type change. Immune to negative weather effects. The trace effects stack with each other (except type change), but not with current weather. (Works for any weather, even custom ones)
Movepool: Castform's movepool + Gardevoir's movepool
I love me some weather

Pokémon: Steelix-Minior
Mod of Origin: Impersonators
Stats: 65/73/173/47/56/26 (440)
Stats (Core): 65/173/73/56/47/86 (500)
Type:

Abilities: Shields Down
Movepool: Steelix's movepool
Starts off as a very bulky Pokemon able to easily set up on physical attackers, with a great defensive type to boot. Turns into a wallbreaker with gargantuan attack. However, it's frail in Core form and not that fast either, requiring Dragon Dance or Scarf to do anything against faster foes.

Pokémon: Eevee-Starter
Mod of Origin: Abnormal V3
Stats: 65/75/70/65/85/75 (435) (unchanged from canon)
Type:

Abilities: Adaptability/Run Away/Anticipation (unchanged from canon)
Aditional moves: Fake Out (Fighting),
Changed moves: Veevee Volley (Fairy), Double-Edge (Steel), Facade (Fighting), Quick Attack (Electric), Headbutt (Rock), Take Down (Rock), Swift (Fairy)
The unchanged Eevee-Starter is a pretty solid support Pokemon in LGPE. In a regular format, it's still an excellent support that spreads status, cures status and sets screens with moves that can't be blocked by Taunt. It can even run Assault Vest plus those moves. Plus, with Fairy-type given to it by Abnormal, its defensive capabilities are increased.
