Battle Tree Discussion and Records

So has there been a decision as to how Rental Teams would be on the leaderboards? Would we have separate leaderboards for Rental Teams?

And what's the strategy with Sun's FEAR + Trick Room Mimikyu + DrumLax rental team?

Thrilled to see that we're crushing the target on this Battle Tree global mission. Hopefully it will be a strong signal to Game Freak that there is in fact a substantial segment of the player base that really cares about the battle facilities, and it's worth taking the time to develop and improve such content! So if you dream of another battle frontier, rack up those BP!

(Note that while I'd love a full-fledged frontier, and do hope players can show Game Freak that there's interest, this is not a complaint about the Tree. More challenge and variation than the maison, Z-moves and megas to plan around...definitely a big step forward this generation, even if triples and rotations got axed.)
I dunno if this actually worked toward the milestone but somebody claimed they were editing their streak to sit at the 49th battle and repeatedly winning for the +50 BP. You get enough people doing that, and it's feasible to hit the numbers we've done.

Or maybe just half a million people just did a good hour-long grind and we were rewarded for it. Who knows.

Somebody has probably asked this before, but is Ash Greninja preferable to Protean Greninja (for singles)?

I have been using my old Protean Greninja from Maison. It's Timid 252 Spatk/252 Speed, I generally run Ice Beam/Dark Pulse/Surf (or Scald)/Grass Knot with a life orb. My other team members are Dragonite (lead) and Mega Kangaskhan (who I will replace when I train someone, possibly Mega Scizor). Would Ash Greninja with the same moveset and EV spread work better...? (Unfortunately, my Ash Greninja is Naive, not Timid) I'm not really sure if Protean is more useful. Sometimes I use it to play with resistances, so I use it more defensively than offensively. Ash Greninja would probably not need to do that since it can just steamroll things, but it would have to get a kill first.

Also, for my Dragonite:
Adamant 252 Atk/180 Speed/76 HP, Lum Berry
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Iron Head
Fire Punch

Would it be worth using Z-Fly? No lum hurts outrage, but I'm not sure how situational a Fly Nuke is.

- I have deliberately placed these in chronological order, hence some Trainers popping up multiple times (they obtained stamps for different formats at different times), and feature the different formats lumped into one big list; I wanted to keep a loose format as compared to the leaderboard, since this isn't currently considered as big an achievement. I also like to think that those reading this thread are smart enough to distinguish which team is for which format, just by, you know, reading
- After some thinking, I decided to leave those teams that have since made the leaderboard, as these posts tend to serve as the initial team write-ups (always good to read), or feature teams that subsequently undergo some kind of change (and are thus not exactly the same team afterward, by the time the streak ends)
- A few of the posts linked to these runs feature no proof and are barely write-ups, or not at all: I have intentionally added these partly on good faith (that these Trainers are being honest) and partly as a way to shame them into writing proper write-ups

Enjoy...or not, your call.

I never grabbed an Ash Greninja, but my Maison Greninja with Protean has been a fun lead. If you build the team around it correctly I think it is viable. I got up to 66 with my last Ninja team. Gonna do another run or two with Chomp-Scizor-Fini and then back to Ninja.

So has there been a decision as to how Rental Teams would be on the leaderboards? Would we have separate leaderboards for Rental Teams?
I dunno, obviously the barrier to building a 'competitive' team gets lower and lower with each new game. I remember looking at the Battle Tower thread for the first time and deciding I didn't have time to get involved until I'd graduated from college and had more free time to learn how to RNG. So I personally think rental teams are fine in terms of being another tool the game provides players (Bottle Caps, Destiny Knot, 3 perfect IVs guaranteed for each legendary) to cut down on the tedious stuff and get to battling.

Sure, somebody could claim a long streak using a rental team, but people already do that with hacked teams (Realistically speaking, there's not going to be any overlap between people with the patience and attention to detail to legitimately obtain/EV/Hyper Train optimally-natured legendaries and people who think Focus Blast would be in any way reliable when you're trying to win 50+ battles in a row). That's why we typically require a little more insight than just the video of a loss for the more extraordinary claims.

If somebody was serious about trying for a long streak using my team(s), I've added the QR code to my Durant/Glalie/Mimikyu team in the post that's linked to the leaderboard. I don't see much difference between that and breeding or training identical team members, which I'd also be willing to do.

I tried scanning the code, but it gave me the message "The QR Code cannot be scanned because the Game Sync ID is different." Not really sure what that's about.

Any tips for Multi battles? I'm currently trying to fill my trainer passport and the Multi-stamp is the last Battle Tree stamp I need to collect. Any ideal partners despite the AI being less than desirable?

Ultimately I'd like to get Cynthia with Mega Luke and Scarfchomp or Togekiss. I'd also consider settling for Wally with a similar combo, or maybe Anabel. I have had no luck whatsoever with encounters, since if I even get Cynthia at all, she's leading with Spiritomb. I've fought Anabel maybe twice in 230 (and that's one more than Guzma) and Wally doesn't lead with useful pairs, either.

Lost on 65 with Chomp, Scizor, Fini. bulkyWater.team is just nasty sometimes.

Back to playing around with Ninja, Mence, and Slash.

Huh. I got the exact opposite of your desired Cynthia sets. Leads with Mega Chomp and Weakness Policy Lucario. Hopefully I can use that to good effect...

Tapu Lele ("Psy Kid") @
Choice Scarf
Nature: Modest
Ability: Psychic Surge
IVs: 31/28/31/x/x/31 (Bottle Capped)
EVs: 12 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 236 Spe
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Dazzling Gleam
- Energy Ball
HP: 147
Attack: 93
Defense: 96
Sp. Attack: 200
Sp. Def: 136
Speed: 145

I didn't really have a say in the matter since nothing else can support my chosen Pokemon in quite the same way Tapu Lele does, but it's a very strong pick regardless. I felt like Scarf was the most solid, obvious option with this kind of team for outspeeding the vast majority of the Tree and punching large holes in the opponent from Turn 1. Psychic is a super spammable move thanks to the auto-Terrain boost, and the one you'd prefer to be locked into most of the time. Moonblast is for quickly disposing of threats like Mega Salamence & Mega Altaria before they get a chance to do anything, while Dazzling Gleam still does respectable damage for a spread attack and works great against dual frail leads, especially from the likes of Grimsley. Energy Ball is the superior coverage move over Focus Miss (yeah nah) or Thunderbolt (I always click Moonblast in front of Gyarados to cover for Mega), since it OHKO's Mega Swampert; fortunately a rare occurrence, but that thing is extremely threatening if I let it set up the Rain. I didn't bother with max Speed EVs since the only thing that achieves is a tie with Darmanitan4, which I wouldn't risk staying in on anwyay; 217 (factoring in the Scarf boost) gets the jump on Mega Beedrill, Mega Sceptile & Accelgor3/4, and there's nothing between those and Darmanitan4 at 220, so I'm pretty confident in saying this is an ideal spread for Modest Scarf Lele. I also didn't want to reduce damage output by running a Timid nature.

Garchomp (M) ("Sharknado") @
Groundium Z
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rough Skin
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Earthquake {Tectonic Rage}
- Dragon Claw
- Poison Jab
- Protect
HP: 183
Attack: 182
Defense: 116
Sp. Attack: 90
Sp. Defense: 105
Speed: 169

Prior this team I hadn't used Garchomp in quite a while, in saying that I'm no stranger to its well-rounded stats and general ability to put the hurting on. Also a worthy candidate for a Z-Crystal, Garchomp is my answer for problematic Steel/Rock/Ground Pokemon that Lele has trouble breaking through, especially ones that use Sandstorm to further reduce its effectiveness. Tectonic Rage obviously doesn't damage Lele (and my other teammates), and is great for taking out anything troublesome (Double Team Regigigas); even with the necessary Jolly nature over Adamant, it might not be the most potent Z-Move out there, but it deals with what I need it to. And thanks to Garchomp being a solid option on its own, I haven't been disappointed in that regard. A fair few Turn 1's play out with Lele + Chomp heavily damaging or outright KO'ing both leads due to this, putting my opponent at a significant deficit right away. Dragon Claw is underwhelming in power without a boosting item, but it's the only reliable Dragon STAB I can use; it still OHKO's Haxorus3/4 100% of the time though, which is nice. Poison Jab is handy for smacking Whimsicott/Shiinotic (preventing the latter from getting a potential Spore off), and also KO's Ribombee in combination with Dazzling Gleam; which could otherwise be a nuisance if I let it Quiver Dance.

Arcanine (M) ("Superberus") @
Sitrus Berry
Nature: Modest
Ability: Intimidate
IVs: 31/0/31/31/31/31
EVs: 228 HP / 156 Def / 36 SpA / 20 SpD / 68 Spe
- Burn Up
- Helping Hand
- Protect
- Toxic
HP: 194
Attack: 103
Defense: 120
Sp. Attack: 137
Sp. Defense: 103
Speed: 124

The idea for a Burn Up Arcanine first came to fruition when turskain brought it up on the Discord server. At this stage the last member needed to be something that could handle the likes of Scizor and Ferrothorn, so a reasonably defensive Arcanine with Intimidate and Helping Hand support seemed ideal. Rather than simply using Flamethrower however, I was excited to get a little creative and test how much mileage I could get out of its newfound toy. Here's the two main reasons why Burn Up is good:
1. Thanks to its impressive 130 Base Power, I was able to focus on a more defensively oriented EV spread with minimal Sp. Attack investment; just enough to secure OHKO's on Mega Metagross & Mega Mawile. Yeah, I still need to run a Modest nature, but Calm/Bold would require significantly more SpA EVs and therefore less to dump elsewhere.
2. Burn Up's side effect makes Arcanine typeless after use, meaning he is now hit neutrally by every type and can't use Burn Up a second time (this resets upon switching out). In conjunction with the defensive investment, Sitrus Berry recovery, Toxic and Protect, this means he can actually 1v1 a slew of Water-types and other bulky annoyances that he is faster than, stalling them out if needed. Having to switch out Arcanine to use Burn Up again isn't great, so you need to make the most out of when and who you target with the move; by playing smartly enough however, you can still switch Arcanine out safely and preserve another Intimidate/Burn Up for later. Just be wary of that typeless status if you do stay in, since Ice or Grass moves will now deal neutral damage, for example. On the flipside to that, if I ever need to HH EQ while typeless Arcanine's on the field...

252 Atk Garchomp Helping Hand Earthquake vs. 228 HP / 156 Def Arcanine in Psychic Terrain: 96-114 (49.4 - 58.7%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO

... a very good chance of putting him into Sitrus Berry activation range from full HP.

Arcanine sits at 124 Speed with the EVs, allowing him to outspeed a large portion of things on the bulkier side up to Tyrantrum4, the majority of which he'd either Burn Up on or try for a last-ditch Toxic. Here's some calcs:
-1 252 Atk Lopunny-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 228 HP / 156 Def Arcanine: 76-91 (39.1 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Psychic vs. 228 HP / 20 SpD Arcanine: 169-199 (87.1 - 102.5%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Aerodactyl Stone Edge vs. 228 HP / 156 Def Arcanine: 150-176 (77.3 - 90.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Jolteon Thunderbolt vs. 228 HP / 20 SpD Arcanine: 81-96 (41.7 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Still going with the same Doubles run, which is at 500 wins right now. But you'll notice that Bruxish is no longer with me (us); I have made a major alteration to the team which I'll detail down below. [Also shifted Garchomp's 4 EVs from HP -> Def to achieve this: 252 Atk Adaptability Lucario-Mega Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Garchomp: 154-182 (84.1 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO]

#325 was the last battle where Bruxish was still on the team; he was pretty decent waiting in the back with that Focus Sash, sitting at a pretty decent Speed with pretty good power behind his attacks. However, the adverb I've just used to describe the fish's presence on the team simply isn't sufficient enough for a Facility as demanding as the Battle Tree. I've found Tapu Lele/Garchomp/Arcanine to be a very solid core, but like with any other team you can't possibly cater for every single kind of matchup and know with 100% certainty that you'll come out on top, even when deciding on that last Pokemon to fill in the gaps. I'll admit that my thoughts during the teambuilding were clouded against my better judgement; wanting to see a new-Generation mon succeed as opposed to a different, more viable pick that would give me better odds at developing a good streak. The few times when I was unable to prevent Trick Room from going up were always dicey propositions, since they'd often involve getting Arcanine in safely to start Toxicing, and waiting the turns out with Protect. Bruxish's Sash would act as a sort of emergency buffer if I needed it to, but I could've lost earlier in the streak if the opponent had the right combination of threats to do me in, if Toxic missed once (or twice), and if I didn't have full concentration for each turn. The team was therefore lacking a reliable answer to Trick Room, so Bruxish's replacement needed to be something that could fill that role; and when I say 'answer' I mean something that stops it from going up altogether, not a slow tank or anything of that sort.

After much deliberation on Discord again with turskain (he really knows his stuff), the mon which would refill the open team slot was decided. This new addition is none other than:-
-->

Sharpedo (F) ("Megalodon") @
Sharpedonite
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Speed Boost --> Strong Jaw
IVs: 31/31/31/27-28/31/31
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Protect
- Psychic Fangs
- Crunch
- Waterfall
HP: 145
Attack: 189
Defense: 60
Sp. Atk: 102
Sp. Def: 61
Speed: 147

I have to say I'm surprised the shark hadn't crossed my mind sooner, but I'm sure glad someone else had thought of it. Sharpedo is an immensely better fit for the team, since it does almost everything Bruxish could do, only better; same coverage, same ability upon Mega Evolving, able to boost its Speed (faster than everything at +2 might I add), greater power save for a marginally weaker Psychic Fangs, so it can actually one-shot a tonne of fast threats. Speaking of Psychic Fangs, it becomes Sharpedo's strongest move under the Terrain, of which you have five turns to work with. Even with the first-turn Protect, it's still generous enough to allow some serious damage to be dealt; chomping down on Virizion, Toxapex, Toxicroak etc. is extremely satisfying with the added coverage. It's like having a temporary Steelworker ability built in - three STAB moves for the price of two! Most importantly though, Strong Jaw-boosted Crunch coming off that great base Attack stat enables Mega Sharpedo to OHKO all TR-carrying Ghost/Psychic types except for Mega Slowbro4 (someone correct me if I've missed anything). A Sash variant with Destiny Bond was certainly something to consider with death by redirection - literally; but despite granting Sharpedo or her teammate an extra turn to live along with the ability to take one of the opponents' mons down, the greatly reduced power would come at the cost of being unable to deal enough damage to the TR users, which I wouldn't want going up in the first place. This didn't seem like a good enough trade-off for my team, so I settled for the open Mega Evolution slot to round off the roster nicely.

Aside from a couple uncharacteristic slip-ups throughout the streak (one of which I've saved a Video of below -#500 of all battles), ultimately I'd like to think I've been utilizing the team to the best of my ability. Given the hyper offensive nature, I'd say it's more user friendly than the TR Oranguru + Araquanid Doubles team. Any of the four Pokemon have the ability to be the win condition in its own right depending on the battle; don't fall into the trap of refusing to switch out Lele just because it's Scarfed for example, or not switching a +1 Sharpedo out. Garchomp and Arcanine are waiting in the back for good reason, ready to be switched in at a moment's notice; make liberal use of the team's defensive synergy to gain favourable positioning, rather than waiting for a "free" switch-in. Taking the initiative is often greatly rewarded; this becomes easier with a thorough understanding of the Tree sets of course, but gradually you'll be able to recognize more and more situations in which making the proactive play has little to no drawbacks.

I'm all for new/inexperienced people wanting to sink their teeth into the Tree, so the playerbase can continue to grow; like GG Unit I've uploaded this team as a QR Rental on the PGL, for anyone that would like to put it through its paces - https://3ds.pokemon-gl.com/rentalteam/BT-437B-87F0. I think this feature is a smart move (though the search function on the site is pretty trash), so hopefully it'll succeed in appealing to a wide audience of Pokemon players, and perhaps encourage them to try teambuilding themselves further down the track once they've gained some more experience.

Battle No. 500 vs Wally: KRRG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVB4

- Frustrated with how poorly I played this one, in all honesty. I guess more anxiety than usual was kicking in with my longing to reach the 500 mark; I didn't give much thought to how troubling Altaria4 could be if Sing managed to land and incapacitate one of my mons, which is exactly what happened. Rather than trying to be cute with the Garchomp switch-in, I should've just Mega Evolved Sharpedo and clicked Crunch on the Altaria; if it happened to be Mega, Moonblast always OHKO's so I would then break a potential Sturdy on Magnezone. In this circumstance, Altaria3 would've been knocked out had I made that play, would have to basically sac either mon to Magnezone, then Garchomp could Z-Move or EQ the next turn. Instead I was forced to leave Magnezone alone and finish Altaria off with another Moonblast, burning the first turn of sleep on Garchomp. Seeing the opposing Garchomp come in afterwards also meant a definite gamble with my chances at winning this battle. Switching in Arcanine made sense to Burn Up on the Magnezone and to hopefully Intimidate something on Wally's more physically oriented roster, but luck was fortunately on my side that turn; to wake up when I did and get the damage I needed was huge, and no crits either. I knew I had the battle won when Mega Garchomp went down, but it's something I won't forget for a long time; that level of play just wasn't acceptable if I'm aiming to keep this streak going, bit of a slap in the face for veering into cruise control mode if you will.

Battle No. 279 vs Aether Foundation Haley: SGBG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVCG

- This was a great example of a lead pairing where Lele needed to stay in and attack (Swampert), and where the other mon (Mudsdale) threatened to KO me back. It might look weird switching Arcanine in on a Ground type, but my thought process was: -1 Mudsdale won't be able to knockout whoever it targets without a crit, whether that be Heavy Slam or Earthquake, and I was content with taking that risk. It chose to use Sandstorm (thinking long-term obviously) as Arcanine was able to finish off the Swampert; then I switched out Lele for Chomp, as the former wouldn't stay around for much longer if it took a Heavy Slam + Sandstorm damage, and Mudsdale is tanky enough to take an Energy Ball anyway. Keeping typeless Arcanine in seemed like the most sensible option to start wearing down the horse, Protecting Chomp from Mamoswine then launching Tectonic Rage on the following turn.

Battle No. 325 vs Backpacker Gwenny: ZTSG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVC8

- The last battle with Bruxish on the team; I knew from the start this would be a drawn out one with Cresselia already on the field. Lele wasn't offering much offensively here so I wanted to get Arcanine in ASAP to start spreading the poison; I would also have decent positioning if the Cresselia was a TR variant. A pretty obnoxious pair on the AI's side with status and Double Team aplenty, I guess I preferred Arcanine being poisoned over being paralyzed. I decided to eventually switch both sides out with the Badly Poisoned damage racking up, to give Bruxish one final hurrah and subsequently increase my odds of out-stalling the opposing side. Focused my attacks on Azelf at the end since Cresselia was just sitting there, barely achieving anything.

Battle No. 388 vs Ace Trainer Raz: JPZW-WWWW-WWW5-ZVCX

- This was an intense matchup, and a wake-up call as to how I need to approach lead Alakazam. My heart sank as I saw it Mega Evolve and Trace Sharpedo's Speed Boost. I couldn't ignore the Ribombee either and let it Quiver Dance freely; now I had to deal with this monster with incredibly strong Psychics at its disposal, that outspeeds my entire team. With Talonflame coming in, my hope was to switch in Arcanine for the Intimidate and to cushion the potential blow from M-Alakazam (it wouldn't Psychic into the Sharpedo slot), and get the necessary damage off with Lele barring a crit Shadow Ball. Thankfully Zam chose to finish off Lele and Talonflame's Flare Blitz then went into Arcanine doing very little, as I was able to Burn Up KO in return. Far from out of the water yet with Greninja coming in, I scouted with double Protect and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was the inferior Greninja3; the battle strangely culminated with a combination of Toxic-Protect-Rough Skin stalling. This could've ended very differently had it been Greninja4 instead.

Battle No. 452 vs Scientist Robyn: PKJG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVBP

- Do not underestimate Lickilicky3; Quick Claw can be mightily unfair at times, yes, but every team should have the means to work around at least a couple untimely activations. Arcanine was the key here for reducing damage done, but I needed to keep either Lele or Sharpedo to knock Conkeldurr out. I knew -1 Lickilicky wouldn't be able to take my Mega shark down without a crit, so I was willing to stay in and take the risk of another QC activation. Choosing to Knock Off Garchomp on Turn 5 rather than go for the Sharpedo KO was a very odd move on the opponent's part, but I wasn't going to let him go down regardless. Tangrowth Z-Moving my paralyzed Arcanine actually made things even easier, letting me bring Lele back in to eliminate Crabominable.

Battle No. 466 vs Backpacker Gwenny: JDXG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVBK

- Landorus using Focus Miss meant it was the Scarfed variant; Sharpedo could've outsped had I stayed in and Mega Evolved, but that would leave me prone to Mesprit's Thunder Wave, so the Garchomp switch-in resolved that issue. My opponent made me look like a god with Heatran, as if I had predicted the switch immaculately, but in reality the AI didn't want to leave Landorus at the mercy of another Psychic. Sharpedo was a drawback-free switch for Lele's slot, as I had successfully shielded her from all harm prior.

Battle No. 475 vs Ace Trainer Munin: NWMG-WWWW-WWW5-ZVBC

- This was just one of those battles where I had the superior matchup from the beginning; a guaranteed OHKO on Venusaur with Psychic, and Protect with Sharpedo to scout Serperior's set. Unfortunate that it missed the Leaf Storm on my Garchomp switching in, but it wouldn't have been a 2HKO coming from Serperior3 anyway. Was able to close it out from there without taking a single bit of damage.

Any tips for Multi battles? I'm currently trying to fill my trainer passport and the Multi-stamp is the last Battle Tree stamp I need to collect. Any ideal partners despite the AI being less than desirable?
Weather-inducing leads are always a plus, hence either a Drought or Drizzle combo might turn out to be wise, should you encounter them.

-In terms of ideal partners I'm currently searching for a partner who uses a Mega Evolution and a powerful Z Move. Ultra aggro is gonna be your best bet in Super Multis and 1 Mega, 1 Z Move usually represents the hardest hitting partner you're gonna find barring hitting the jackpot on one of the Battle Legends/Veterans

-Try and find yourself a partner whose 2 pokemon both have 4 attacking moves with 0 status moves. You just can't rely on the AI to reliably use status moves. Better they just spam attacks because at least then you can somewhat predict who they're going to target and with what moves

-But just don't assume the AI will always make the "right" move. As I said in my post for my Multi streak the AI partner will sometimes choose moves that don't always hit even though they have moves that do and would still KO the opponent. So just try to observe and pick up any weird ticks the AI seem to be doing and use that knowledge when predicting

-As said in a post above, it's pretty powerful to lead with a weather induced opening pair. So find a Metagross and pair it with a Tapu Lele or Raikou/Tapu Koko, Mega Swampert/Politoed etc... Your opponents are randomly paired (I think? Anyone confirm?) so they're not going to have anywhere near the same level of synergy as you can create for yourself

-The opponents are 2 separate trainers, which means if you take out 2 pokemon from one of them you're now playing a 2 v 1 game, which you should pretty much always win. So it can make your life easier to focus on getting one of the trainers 2 pokemon dead asap.

-Don't forget to scout trainers. Any and as many as you can, you never know what Hidden Ability they might have or item that makes them useable. 10 BP is nothing. I can't tell you how many Double battles I've had where they've had a potentially interesting opening pair that I could use and by the end of the battle I completely forgot and just hit Continue.

In gen 6 i'd say that garchomp3 or typhlosion-whatever the scarf one was was a necessity, but now i'd recommend either charizard3(the y one) lucario4(the mega one) or alakazam 3 or 4. you want the ai to as reliably as possible use one predictable move that is as accurate as possible. You want the ai to be your earthquake/close combat/psychic/dazzling gleam/heat wave buddy while you actually play the game proper.

The stamp run listing placed in my last post is complete:

Enjoy...or not, your call: Stamp Run Compilation (S.R.C.)

Thanks to everyone whose given me advice. Realised I picked up a Choice Scarf Garchomp and Surf Milotic Cynthia so I'm currently at a 31 streak with her, leading with Salamence Z-move and Mega Lucario in the back.

Sadly Milotic KO'd my Lucario and I was forced to watch the AI essentially have a PP stall battle with itself vs Jellicent. Thankfully Rest burnt up some turns so Jellicent ended up struggling first.

But not something I'd like to repeat xD

Well, I've had the luxury (NOT) of watching Cynthia ask Mega Garchomp to use Sandstorm whenever the opposing AI feels like double targeting me (plus some Earthquake from time to time to add more salt). Result -> I had a few matches where it was basically Cynthia vs AI while I sit around frustrated as my Pokemon could've easily ended the battles if they weren't double/triple targeted and destroyed.

After a long time of lurking in this forum today i finaly registert and want to post my streak of 112 in single battles with a team with the same Pokemon.

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Atk / 140 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost
- Swords Dance

In 25% of the battles i could just set up to +6 and sweep the team with Bullet Punch.
If the lead could have a fire move i simply switcht to toxapex and take the hit.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Haze
- Recover

Toxapex is here to take fire moves that should hit scizor and ice move from gliscore and if i can take a few hits toxic stall one or two pokemon.
Haze is a must have to protect yourself for the curse users because they would otherwise sweep my team.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Substitute
- Protect

The best pokemon to stall nearly every pokemon out of PP if they are any problem for my team Like
Virizon-4 because after a SD i couldn´t savely switch to toxapex to use Haze so i would just stall untill it runs out of leaf blades and then switch to toxapex.
And for the last move on gliscor i felt like two pokemon with toxic would be a waste so i picked knock-off but i rather used ist to stall PP than for the damage so any move with decent PP would be ok in this slot.

Toxapex and Gliscor are a great combinatiion against pokemon that have ice and ground move as i can simply switch back from one to the other till there are no PP left.

I know the ev are not nearly optimised and i thinking about giving this team another try with some little changes like a different move on gliscore and some better ev spreads.
I lost due to a realy unfortune streak of full paras aginst Latias-4 the battle Video is:
Q74G-WWWW-WWW5-3MBK
So I was trying this team out, and I was thinking, what if you lead with pheromosa first? She's faster then scizor and gets more use of U-turn and still resists dark types (even if she can't take a hit)

Welp I died on my 25th Super Single battle with my Serperior led team. Rock Slide Aerodactyl flinched my Serperior into oblivion, then flinched Mega Salamence. Next one in was Lycanroc-Midnight, was going to use Earthquake. But my 3DS directional pad is slightly broken since my 3DS is just so freaking old and sometimes doesn't respond, ended up clicking Dragon Dance instead. RIP. Volcarona died shortly after that.

Of course, my team was terribly composed--66% of my team is weak to rock, and Volcarona needs to go. Once I've mustered up the courage to migrate Suicune over I'm going to roll with that instead.

I'm still salty about Rock Slide flinching 4/5 times it was used. Why can't I ever get that to happen on my end to my opponent. I know the RNG is just as fair as it is against normal battles but still, can't help but conspire to make myself feel less bad at this game.

...yeah, I'm just really REALLY terrible at this game.

That fucking Meowth used by the schoolteacher right at the beginning of S/M got seven consecutive flinches with Bite, not including the bites that landed on the turns I was forced to use Potions to survive. I have not had comparable misfortune in the facilities, though I've gotten angrier just from more being at stake I guess :P

I guess it must be a perception thing, but I've always had a feeling flinching becomes more likely if you scored a flinch the previous turn.
