GP & NU Leader
Something that always gets brought up about joining the GP team is how daunting of a task it can be. Doing quality GP checks takes lots of practice, and it's often hard for those new to it to grasp what exactly we're looking for out of prospective members. Today, I introduce to you: GP tutoring! This has always been something that we offered but in a very unofficial manner. However, going forward we wish to advertise it more publicly in hopes people interested in GPing no longer see it as a very scary task.

A few things to keep in mind:
- Our GPers are often busy with many other parts of the site, and as a result there may be periods where no tutor is currently accepting new members.
- If you're interested in joining the team but can't get a tutor, remember to still join the GP Discord! That way, you can still request an amchecker role and have access to the #amchecker channel, where you're free to ask for input on any checks you do.
- The GP process is indeed one that takes time to learn. Don't fret if you feel like you're not making process after a month or more! Practice makes perfect, after all.

Ever since my first analysis when Adeline (I think) made a Christmas tree of corrections, Grammar has been something I wanted to improve at to put less strain on the current GP team, and what better way to do that than to improve enough to join the team myself? I've always admired the GP team for being able to contribute so much despite only having a few members, which I think is another trait I could stand to pick up. I also have a lot of free time right now, so I think that allowing me the opportunity to learn how to improve my grammar would be worth the time investment.

I would be available time that isn’t before 12 PM GMT-6 on weekdays. I’m also not free past 7 PM on Thursdays. On weekends, I am free until 7 PM on Saturdays and not free on Sundays.

2) Why do you want to join the GP team?
Honestly, my biggest motivation would just be to help 1v1 C&C be a bit more streamlined. I also just generally want to help out wherever I can, so there’s that as well.

These are all the amgp checks I’ve done, as I started hosting tournaments after that, but since I’m taking a much more limited load when it comes to tournaments in 2023 (new year’s resolution lol), I want to try to do more AMGP checks this year!

2) Why do you want to join the GP team?
A sort of mix between autonomy and ease for other users. I write a lot of stuff for tiers i'm passionate about (OMs, mostly BH), so joining GP would be a big help in streamlining the process of my own writing, thus sponging up less time from others. In addition, it also helps streamline OM C&C, which is always ideal, especially given some metas didn't have the best of times last gen. Fixing my half-broken state school English is probably useful too (seriously UT is the reason I don't use it's as a possessive now).

I've been mostly doing analyses so far, and pretty much all of my QC includes some GP edits (and I am sorta being pressured to sign up now), though if more checks are necessary I can get on this

+11, generally not available weekdays until my evenings because of work. I can reply to messages whenever, but an actual attempt at discussion would be pretty staggered and dependent on when I get room to breathe. I'm much more flexible on weekends though.

2) Why do you want to join the GP team?
I've been amchecking on and off for 11 years. The length of time between my amchecks has, at its longest, stretched across a period of more than five years, to give you an idea of what I mean by "on and off". This time around, however, I want to make a serious effort to join the GP team so I can both help with a wider range of analyses than what I would be able to write myself and help further my writing skills.

There are a couple of reasons. 1) I want to get better at competitive battling as a whole, and helping with C&C, I feel, would be a great way to gain some knowledge. However, I know I’m not qualified enough to do QC, so I feel GP would be a great and fun way to help! 2) Like I said, I would love to help Smogon! C&C is a great way to contribute to the competitive battling scene. 3) If I can edit and review someone else’s work, I’m sure that my own work will be better. This will help with essays and such in future, more advanced classes down the line

Pretty cursed, but 9 AM to 11PM GMT+7 everyday (or 9PM to 11AM EST). Generally pretty free, but depends on work really if it gets too busy and hectic.

So I can get closer to UT
I enjoy writing for different outlets of this site (Spotlights, Analyses, TFP articles) and thus have pretty much familiarized myself with Smogon's GP standards, at least the Pokemon-related terms. So, GP feels like a natural extension of what I've enjoyed doing. Helping increase the amount of GP manpower to cover more contents across the site doesn't hurt either.

GMT +1 (will be +0 from April 3rd to April 13th). Afternoons and evenings are preferred, but it really depends on uni.

2) Why do you want to join the GP team?
After joining the Portuguese Translations project I started to develop a large interest in C&C and wanted to, somehow, contribute to it. Some days ago I reached out to UT, who helped me get started and (as always) made everything he could to help me, being it providing me the necessary tools and resources or following my work and giving me tips/comments. English is not my native language (UT ._.); however, not only do I believe my level is good enough, I see in this project a good and fun way to further improve it.

Communities I care about like RBY and LGPE often have trouble getting analyses through QC and GP for various reasons so I want to remove one roadblock by being available to QC and GP these gens/tiers. I’ve already become QC in several tiers so to me the next logical step to help streamline the process is to learn to GP. It’s also a nice way to slowly expand my connections as I want to learn and contribute to other gens - I just tried doing a current gen check today, for example, and want to be involved with gens 2-4 as well.

C&C is a section I care a great deal amount. As a C&C Leader joining the GP team feels like the next natural step for me, and I would love to be able to help out with the pipeline of getting stuff uploaded in general, especially in my own subsections. Autumn and UT have both encouraged me to try it out recently and I've decided to take the next step to signing up for tutoring after doing a number of AM checks already, and enjoying it a fair amount.

i spend more time grammar checking things for friends than i do touching grass, and it's something i've always found interesting but never had the time to get fully involved in. i'd also love to contribute to the site more, and this feels like one of the ways i'd be able to be the most useful
